    “Back in 2005 we asked at the gate and got into see the museum which is a quite a long way into the base but very close to the landing areas. It was very busy whilst we were there with pairs of Mils of al kinds flying circuits.”

    So you had no prior arrangements. Were you escorted to the museum? Were you allowed to take any photos of static helos and / or aerial activities? Any other restrictions or allowances?

    Cobra Versus L-39 1985

    Rumcajs, do you have any Czech Air Force contacts that are familiar with that incident? I was the pilot of the AH-1 and would like to establish contact with someone in the Czech AF. I have some very good pictures of “border operations” during that time to include MI-24 and L-39 aircraft that flew along the border. Thank you.

    Mi-4 and F-102 incident

    Edit: I have found the source about “the previous” crash – 17.5. 1983 of Mi-24D 0148, pilot, gunner and two technicians were killed…. info later as well as abou Mi-4 and F-102 incident… now just photo

    Have you been able to find out any more on these events??

    Current status of 81-0964 “Steal your face”!

    81-0964 “Steal your face” – assigned to 511 TFS/10 TFW “AR”

    81-0964 was flown by Captain Todd ‘Shanghai’ Sheehy of the 511th TFS in Jan 1991 and accomplished an air-to-air kill of an Iraqi Mi-8 Hip.

    Where is she today??

    We also visited the SPARC helicopter repair facility at Pulkova airport – but I doubt that individuals would be allowed in.

    Is this the SPARC Helo repair facility?
