    About Hind crash…. more photos

    http://www.vrtulnik.cz/accidents/helo1336.jpg
12.9.1985 crash of the Mi-24D of crew Tóth, Horák, Melíšek. After common hunt, some Cobra got the “hanging” regime across the border. The Czech and Slovak crew (Tóth is a Slovak, Horák and Melíšek are the Czechs) tried to copy the Cobra manouevre but due to – sorry I don´t know English terminology for that – leeward wind stream, too high flying level over see (it means over see in the Czech border mountains, it means too low flying level in too high mountains area) and the Hind weight contrary to Cobra, the mi-24D started to fall. The Pilot tried to push for speed the “over strained” (or what in English) Hind, but too late. The Mi-24D started to fall 3m/s and rotate to the left around own axis. The Mi-24D has crashed to the Poledník mountain, before the touch the land the technician made to open side door remembering similar crash some time ago. After crash technician had to hit the second pilot-gunner by hand during running away, because he ran in shock for help away, for help to injured pilot instantly. The pilot was injured by oxygen bottle hit. The situation was spotted by the Cobra crew all time and Czechoslovak military border snipers and observation border guard as well.

But it´s not all. One hour later (sic!) the other Hind was send to same place and got the same fatal situation, but they had higher flying level and better direction (even they got worse situation), so the second Hind pilot managed to run the Hind for save speed to the valley. The first Hind pilot had to get the pensioner for heath, and the crash meant a lot of restriction for helicopter part of air force…. – of course – communistic way to resolve the problems, they didn’t know, similarly to western enemies, anything about “second flying regime” (I don’t know how to translate that).

About Mi-4 and F-102 very soon

Your translation is good, I can understand what occurred. I appreciate your efforts in providing this information. The termination of the accident cause is likely “Settling with Power” or just being caught in a down-wash.

As always one question answered generates ten more. So! Do you have the Bort number and the Unit designation for the crashed Hind. What happened to the rest of the crew? How can I communicate directly with any of the crew members? Any other photos of the crashed Hind? The other incident mentioned “remembering similar crash some time ago” – what was the date of that event?

Is the IDF MAgazine still available and have they published any articles on this event or other IDF helicopter shoot downs? Would really like to see the VDU / TADS vid of this event.

    Belarus Hinds

It was taken in August of 1995, at the MARZ plant in Chernoye, Russia. They apparently refurbish aircraft here, including An-2s and Mi-2s/Hoplites. I’ll see if I can dig up any images of Belarus Hinds.

great, I’ll be looking forward to them. Do you any images of their air base where they are located. I am, interested in the 1995 balloon shot down event by Belarus Hinds.

    Thanks,

    Location of Yasser Arafat’s heliport?

Does anyone have the location of former President Yasser Arafat’s presidential residence and heliport?

    Israeli missiles destroy Arafat’s residence
    Gaza City, December 3, 2001
Israeli helicopters today destroyed Yasser Arafat’s presidential residence and offices in a missile strike in Gaza City, while the Palestinian leader was out of Gaza, an AFP correspondent on the scene said.
The helicopters also fired around 10 missiles at Mr Arafat’s heliport in here and destroyed two helicopters and damaged the third one. Mr. Arafat is left without a single working helicopter, Palestinian security officials said.
The strike came just hours after hawkish Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon rushed home to weigh a response to a spate of Palestinian suicide bombings launched against his country while he was in Washington.
“The Gaza attack is a clear message we are sending to Mr. Yasser Arafat that the games are over and we hold him responsible for the recent attacks,” a senior army officer said on Israeli Radio.
Israeli tanks and armored vehicles have descended en masse on Palestinian areas in the West Bank, the Palestinian Authority said in a statement today, without giving further detail.

Also, where are the Syrian MiGs???
