    Actually I heard it was actually four F-14’s and two F-4’s that were shot down by Hinds.

    One F-4 was downed using the 12.7-mm gun in the nose of the Hind while the other five fighters were shot down using missiles I believe.

    I just came across this information……some Ukrainian I met in Kiev last year sent me an e-mail about it!

    Can you get the details on these events????

    Cuban / Angolan Helicopter Air Combats

    Does anyone have the full stories and images of these air combat events?

    1976 A SAAF Impala was shot down by an Angolan Allouette III helicopter.

    ?? May 1982, SAAF 1 Squadron Mirage F.1AZ shot down an Angolan FAPA / DAA Mi-8 Hip helicopter with its 30mm cannon.

    29 September 1985 South African Air Force Impala Mark II pilots claimed two Angolan Mi-25 helicopters.

    30 September 1985, four Mi-25 Hinds and two Mi-17 Hips on their way to Jamba were shot down by a Squadron of eight South African Air Force Atlas Impala II.

    23 September 1987, Angolan Air Force MiG-23MF jet fighters shot down a Namibian Air Force helicopter east of Cuito Cuanavale with a R-60 Aphid AAM.

    Bennett / Bakke Kill

    So does anyone have a copy of the the HUD Vid??

    13 February 1991, USAF F-15E fighter 89-0487, CAPTs R. T. Bennett and D. B. Bakke, 4 TFW, 335 TFS, destroys an Iraqi Mi-25 Hind helicopter moving slowly dismounting troops with a 2,000 lbs laser-guided bomb GBU-10 south of Al Aqim, Iraq. Two other Iraqi helos were able to exit the area without being shot down.

    I have a friend over there right now from 1/211 (pilot)

    The Utah NG 1/211? That was my Guard unit until 1995.

    Wreck Clean-Up

    I was just looking at Bagram on Google earth and could not find these wrecks. Have they been clean out?? BTW 1/229 was my old unit.

    Air Refueling??

    Looks like a KC-135 refueling a C-5, but the C-5 is at a higher altitude, (just finished or just beginning) so it appears larger – comments???

    SA-315 Lama Shot Down?

    Was the SA-315 Lama in Post 615, shot down? It looks like the cockpit is still smoking.

    Do you have the image of the Hind next to the CH-47 in #612??
