Iraqi Destroyed Helos
Sorry this is not really part of the thread, but does anyone have images of destroyed Iraqi helos from either of the three Gulf Wars (1980-1988, 1990-1991 & 2003)?
Thanks
Notes on the MiG-23 AA-12 Kill:
USSR November 1986, near the Akhtubinsk Test Center, while testing a radar guided anti-helicopter missile, one that would acquire and track on the Doppler shift of a helicopter’s rotating blades (R-77 AA-12 Adler) against a Mi-6 Hook drone, a MiG-23 Flogger, accidentally shot down an Aeroflot AN-26, killing twenty-six passengers. (Alexander Zuyev, Fulcrum, Warner Books, New York, 1992, p. 219).
The attached images are of a Bell 222 helicopter and not the K-2.
Flogger:
Can you the post the video you reference?
Thanks,
It would help to know if it was a belly shot or a top down view!
Apache Wing Bumps etc.
Good shots, now what are the bumps on the wings and the two devices just under the co-pilots windscreen?
Right Place Right Time
As those who have been in air-to-air combat so much of the kill depends on being at the right place at the right time. One minute you’re in a target rich environment and the next minute the sky is void! Luck, sector assigned, etc. all play into the kill equation!
F-14 Iran A2A kills
Where is this database of reported kills?
Another great air-to-air, but without guns / missiles is “Birds of Prey” using a SA-319 Lama.
How about “We were hunters!”
