    Vietnam – China 1979

If you are refering to the China-Vietnam war of 1979 , no , Vietnam didnt had any kind of Fitters then …

IF the dispute bloomed, i.e, became hot again then a Fitter type airframe might be desired!

    Bombing Rebels versus your neighbors

Some old disputes may bloom and require going “down town” that could call for Fitters or something better.
    Azerbaijan – Armenia
    Iran – Iraq, Saudi
    Peru – Ecuador
    Syria – Israel
    Vietnam – China

    What will replace the Su-22?

Any idea what airframe these countries will procure to replace the Fitter? The Fitter seemed a good tactical bomber – what is available? The Su-24 Fencer may be too big / complex for the Fitter replacement budget.

The second was almost a double take, an Apache flew low overhead 10 minutes later and I noticed the rear windows (pilots) had black boards taped over them using quite obvious white tape. The front cockpit was as normal, are they doing night flying training at Middle Wallop?

Flying the “Bag!” The pilot uses the Pilot Night Vision Sensor (PNVS) located on the top of the nose, this device produces the FLIR-imagery used for flying. They back-out the cockpit so the pilot has to rely on the IHADS sight.

    Helicopter versus Fighter Combat

HuAF has nice traditions with helo-hunt back to the Cold-War Era.
The F-15 pilots were in a very comfortable situation with their useful radar, AIM-9X and helmet mounted sights….

    Can you imagine a same cat-mouse play MiG-21 vs Mi-24 ?

pic. from my archives – year 1986

Do you have more information on the Cold War intercepts and Helicopter versus Fighter training? Any more HUD camera images?

    Thanks

El Pato AB; Peru – MiG-29s

    Hi Buddha,

I did a search on Google-Earth and found this: El Pato AB
There are 3 mig-29s on the ramp with a SU-25. Some other SU-17s or 22s in hangars. It’s a desert airbase in the middle of exactly nowhere.

    Lat and Long: 4.32.21.99.S 81.13.29.48.W

This should drop you right on the ramp. a search in G/E for El Pato AB; Peru, will do the same.

    BRgds,
    FROGMAN

Thanks!! Now to find the Mirage 2000’s!
