SkyNews had photos on-screen less than 6 hours later… and those pics weren’t taken long after the incident either,as it was still burning… horrible sight. That’s news media for you these days. R.I.P,Brian…:(
I think the local Yorkshire tv network showed the hurricane going in, not really necessary, i avoided sky news etc for this very reason, i remember video of the mossie crash..not nice
you wont find a better fighter pilots account of the campaign in france, superb ,..read it several times
Is the pilot of this aircraft going to get a mention? The Baron got him in the end too.

my grandfher served as a carpenter in the RFC mainly on balloons, and rememberd, seeing american soldiers marching on their way to the front, and a couple of stray shells later, running back the other way. Also when the war finished they dug HUGE big pits and chucked all their equipment in inlcuding lorries, and he thought what a waste, guess they didnt want to take it all back home
second that ..great, what a birthday present 🙂
funny this, last night was reading my after the battle book on the battle of britain and looking into the eyes of the photos of pilots who died, it is so sad and then thought, what a effing state this country is in ..i have the highest regards for this chaps but i wonder what they would think if they saw this country now
you have to remember that no one questioned this at the time, they were going to try to invade,it was just a matter of when, my fathers unit was brought back from india in one hell of a hurry and was stationed in kent during the BoB, i suppose hitler may have thought if the raf was knocked out and england was at his mercy we may have sued for peace without him invading
there is a book called RAF bomber command losses 1945 by W R Chorley…try here http://www.abebooks.co.uk
