Yes, HUY would have been a perfect airport for a Malaga route 3 or 4 times a week

Surely none of the routes to be announced wth be more than 3 or 4 times a week? Could see ALC, AGP, TFS, PMI, BCN working from ABZ

Speaking of Jet2, (Not entirely LBA related, but I started the thread ;)), does anyone know why they have put the flights from LBA to Malaga and Murcia, MAN to Malaga and Murcia, Newcastle to Murcia and Belfast to Prague, Barcelona and Murcia on sale for summer 2006 already? Seems incredibly early, they only just put the winter 05 flights on sale a few weeks ago.

Charters are already on sale for next summer, maybe trying to get the business of any early bookers?

Excel Airways, the “world’s leading charter airline”, is launching flights from Humberside Airport for the first time to begin in May 2006.

The rapidly expanding airline will be offering nine popular sun and beach holiday destinations:- Rhodes, Paphos, Lanzarote, Alicante, Tenerife, Dalaman, Algarve, Majorca and Malaga. Return flight prices to Alicante start from £99 + fees and holidays will start from £199.

Martin Lock, Marketing & ecommerce Director for Excel Airways commented: “We are delighted to be able to offer the Humber and Lincolnshire regions a fantastic new combination of attractive flight and holiday prices plus the award winning service that customers associate with Excel Airways. Excel was awarded the accolade of the “World’s Leading Charter Airline” in 2004 and it will be flying brand new 737-800s with leather seats, in-flight entertainment and young friendly crews who provide a great service. Coupled with its high quality airline product, Excel has the ability to offer a broad portfolio of tailor-made holiday options ranging from low fare seat-only through to 5-star luxury accommodation. All our flights, hotels and car hire products will be available for sale on our simple to use website “ http://www.XL.com” or through local travel agents where customers can also book a range of other services such as champagne to celebrate their holidays.”

Robert Goldsmith, Managing Director of Humberside Airport said: “This development is excellent news for Humberside Airport, the regional travel trade and, most important of all, the travelling public of our region. The broad range of destinations on offer from Excel Airways will provide superb choice for the people of the Humber and Lincolnshire regions, regardless of whether the travel budget is large or small. In addition, the range of products available gives people the choice of booking holidays or just the flights themselves. It is expected that Excel’s new program will carry close to 60,000 passengers in its first summer operating season.”

XL.com offers flights from 12 major UK airports; Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, Belfast, East Midlands, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Stansted and from May 2006, Humberside and Cardiff and flies to over 40 sun and beach holiday destinations including the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Egypt, Florida and the Caribbean.

I think it will take of. As for how long it lasts is another matter. This winter will be crucial for them. If they do well they have a good chance of expanding. If dont do so well I dont see much of a future for them

I just thought it was a new (winter) route as it didnt say it was a restarted route and commercial aviation today is usually reliable
