It was a better paper airplane than a real one.
Its service life in the USAF Air Defense Command was very short.
Very little range, endurance or firepower compared to big heavy airplanes it flew with.
Sadly both aircraft were give original ejection seats that on paper sounded great, but in reality killed a lot of pilots.

Ignorant assessment. Nearly all the statements you have made are typically irrelevant and besides the point. The F-104 was a lot cheaper to purchase and maintain than an F-106. F-104G was a lot more multirole than the F-106.
These above could not be called small fighter.
Probably because they are not fighters in the strict sense, but ‘interceptors,’ designed to provide the air defence for nations which are entire continental land masses in scale…

Fact is, Russian made commercial aircraft are nowadays (An-148, Tu-204SM) barely 15-20 percent cheaper than their western equivalent – why should their military aircraft be any cheaper?

6. Cheaper cost means you can always buy more and send out more. No one ever says war is fair.
What reason is there to believe that Su-35 will be cheaper than Typhoon? Su-30MKI is already approaching 100 milllion a piece mark.

The F-4 was just over 100km/h faster than the Su-15 at sea level, as a maximum ideal.
That’s a very interesting fact! The F-4 has always been criticised for it’s not-so-efficient aerodynamics. The Su-15, on the other hand, looks like a very clean aero design, almost like a scaled up F-104…

According to wikipedia, the wing was designed by BAC. The Adour powerplant is largely a RR design.

You could probably use the kill rate of Yugoslav MiG-29s in the 1999 war as a benchmark for any ‘engagements’ between US/SK air forces and North Korea.
In fact, use the aerial kill ratio of the Balkan war throughout the 1990s…
To avoid misunderstandings the Su-15 was tailored to the limited PVO mission and did its job.
By its engines the Su-15 was redlined at Mach 2,1 similar to the MiG-21s.
How did the Su-15’s range and endurance compare to the MiG-21? I suspect it was a very short-legged aircraft for providing air-defence to a country that occupied 20% of the world’s landmass?
I never understood why the Jaguar is remembered so fondly, on both sides of the Channel.

Not to mention that the thrust problem still remained at altitude, that the Jaguar couldn’t as many Gs, and the lack of radar. So the Jaguar only made sense in a dual fleet Air Force, alongside a fighter type. A rather costly luxury for most countries.
You could say the same about any dedicated ground attack type – A-10, Su-20, Su-25 etc. The French air force obviously liked the Jaguar, the bought over 200 of them.
Only the IAF IM versions had that iirc.
