Oil contributes only 10% of Dubai’s GDP. That is why tourism and business, plus Emirates is being so aggressively marketed.

    David Burke, great name 😉

OK re the Connie, just would have thought a couple of more imaginative flybys would have been nice, thats all. I’m a member of their organisation BTW.

I thought the commentators were OK, if inaccurate at times. Hey they don’t know everything, and nor do i.

Period cotume folks, different strokes for different folks. I thought it added some atmosphere.

Food, was extortionate and really bad. Ice cream was good mind!

I was REALLY disappointed by the Connie display today (sun). Two crappy flypasts, that was it. OK they are new to the game, but guys please. The 6’s at Coventry last year were wayyyy better. Great ship mind and those flames out the exhaust stubs on take-off spectacular.

As for being a cashcow, i know what some mean. I thought £25 for entrance bad enough, then being reamed a further £4 for the flightline. Familys will refuse to pay this sort of money. I know operating warbirds costs mega bucks, but thats my 0.02p.

Bottom line, this lot don’t have the ££££ for a restoration, let alone operate one. Shame the greepeace machine “was” a nice machine.

Nice to see the B52b, the oldest one still flying, 008, with the very early engines still doing the launches. The black smoke on take-off was spectacular, and noise 😀 😀

All the stored DC10’s left last year, where they went haven’t a clue. They did fly out though.

Saturday afternoons plenty of Russian stuff in AGP, otherwise runof the mill European airlines.

If you landed on the numbers, you got it wrong, good pilots aim for the 1,000′ point or TDZ (Touchdown zone). 😀

That way we probably won’t remove any lights or other obstacles on landing.

My heart went out to the BHX guys and gals at the weekend. At LGW and LTN it was rough as hell, and exciting, but more or less down the runway.

Winds at 1,500′ at LTN when i landed at about 13.15 were 240/70, made the groundspeed about 90kts!!!!!

Perfect leg for F/O’s landings LOL

    Woo bleedin hoo.

This does happen once in a while on the Airbus FBW. No big deal trust me.

Just follow ECAM and the QRH procedure, no big deal.

If flap or slat asymettry is detected the WTB(wing tip brakes) are engaged, its an Airbus thing LOL.

Brakes may get a tad hot, firm landing, why?? Hard landing is defined in most company Ops manuals. Airbus FBW actually cough up on the lower EACM if you land with “G”. Only seen it once in 11 years, wasn’t my landing, honest !!

I nice little sharpener after 10 hrs across the pond, yeehaw.
