No sign of any programs on TV about the Hurricane’s 75th this weekend either …:(

I believe Brooklands Museum are celebrating the event on the 6th with film shows, Hurricane personalities and a Hurricane flypast at around 1pm. They are also planning to unveil their own Hurricane with its engine and propeller in place. Are there any other events happening?

The Vimy has been operating out of Oxford Airport recently and should today (weather permitting) relocate to a new (temporary) home elsewhere (not Brooklands – yet) where it will be on display to the public. At this point in time I do not know when the official announcement will be made about the location of the new home – so keep watching.

Major efforts are being made by various people at Brooklands to keep the aircraft flying and it is being maintained in airworthy condition. No progress has yet been made by M-B to provide the grass airstrip that was promised to Brooklands as part of the airfield redevelopment therefore the museum cannot act as a base for operations.

On another subject, the BBC is filming “Antiques Roadshow” at the museum at the end of May – should be worth watching.

    Hi bri

The original entrance into the museum from Brooklands Road is still open 😀 when you walk from the station look out for the museum sign on the right-hand side of the road – don’t worry, you can’t miss it !

Not sure about the price reduction though …

Don’t forget to check http://www.brooklands100.org for events happening at the museum.

    Regards
    Richard

Not exactly from an airfield – this is inside the Vickers-Armstrong air raid shelter at Brooklands (NOT at the museum …)

Brooklands (Surrey) is certainly the closest to Gatwick and the organised tours of “DG” are only £4 per adult and £2 per child (in addition to the museum entry fee). Another site worth looking at is: http://www.brooklandsconcorde.com

“chicken chaser”, as far as I am aware the motoring/motorcycle demonstrations are still going ahead on the eastern runway all through the day and on the main runway between 12.00 – 12.45 and 14.15 – 15.00
Your comments concerning the aircraft are unhelpful and do nothing for your credibility.

Where else will you be able to see all the following in one place this weekend ?

RED ARROWS, Merlin HC3, BBMF, Sea Fury, Chinook, DC-3, Su-26, Hurricane Mk I, B-25 Mitchell, Hawker Hunter, Harrier GR7 as well as motoring and military vehicles and much, much, more …

Watch out for the Hunter and the pyrotechnics display … explosive action 😉
A great family day out !

    Hobby horse of mine…..

Do Brooklands have any plans to get the airlinners under cover?

    Steve.

Yes, as soon as the funds are raised …
