Despite the TT18 being in 7 sqdn markings the picture was taken at Kinloss as I was at the other end of the camera, 7 sqdn used Kinloss for operations on the western isles ranges.
ALL the TT18’s I ever flew in had no underwing markings but as I said almost all had no underwing markings, some ex Navy ones may well have had them when they were taken on by 100 sqdn.
Almost all RAF TT18’s had no seriel under the wings however WK128 had the seriel under the port wing only

The suggestion that the red seats were VIP fit would make sense of my feeling that I saw red seats in one of 60 Sqn’s aircraft as that was their main job when they were at Wildenrath I think. Not that their Pembrokes were used that much AFAIK. Seemed to spend more in the hangar and being air tested than actually earning their keep, if anyone knows different I’d be pleased to know.
I spent many hours flying around Germany and beyond in the Pembroke doing a variety of tasks many of which were mundane and some which were decidedly not. The role for 60 Sqdn was varied to say the least and very busy, I could describe the interior of the recce version but would then have to kill you!!!!
Definately not WK163 as she is still awaiting a new engine.
The Pembroke C(PR)1 had a Kohlesmann (unsure of the spelling) periscope mounted on the forward port side behind the forward bulkhead which gave a 360 degree field of view for target acquisition.
Informal pictures were just that, informal and no protocol required, however RAF fromal crew photographs or any formal photographs in uniform were taken with the most senior person front and centre and lesser mortals radiating out left and right, officers to the front, senior NCO’s behind, except for squadron WO/ Flt Sgt who usually were front row with airmen to the rear. Squadron or group photographs were posed with arms and legs folded/crossed symetrically but there was always someone who didnt comply and ruined an official picture. Another good way to screw things up was to be on the back row left when a panning camera was used and as soon as the first scan was taken to jump down, run to the right hand end and therefore appear on the same picture twice. Happy Days!!!
Sorry but no Canberra this year, it is grounded awaiting a new engine.
The F95 was fitted using the T4 bomb sight spigot and levelled with the aircraft datum using an inclinometer and bezelled nuts on the front mounting bar, I fitted many of them at Cottesmore and also removed the T4 bomb sight, that was in the late 1960’s. We only had 4 cameras to start with and they were constantly being moved from one aircraft to another usually after each sortie, the mount was an in service mod and not built into the aircraft. The wiring used existing cabling plus the addition of a controler mounted by the left shoulder of the Rad Nav on the stbd fuselage side.

waddington Canberra’s
The black one, Canberra B2/6 WK163/ G-BVWC, belongs to Classic Aviation and is operated by Air Atlantique Classic Flight.
Waddington Canberras
Just the picture I wanted, my view from inside is a bit restricted to say the least!
Last RAF crewed canberra flight
It might be the last RAF Canberra flight but the last RAF crewed Canberra flight will be some time in the distant future as Dave Piper will still be flying WK163 long after the PR9’s have gone.
