    Septic,

The BBMF (Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster), Hercules, and Tutor are listed to display on the MoD RAF airshow & Flypasts page.

Stewart, it was great to meet you on the Saturday, but where’s the photo of the only jet at Legends???

A very enjoyable day for me too, although I have to say an expensive one having been unable to resist the lure of Corgi, esp the 1/18 Stuka, the ‘Blitz’ set and ‘Last of the many’/G-AMAU, as the other forumites on the tank bank can testify. Many thanks to Robbo for the lift to the station, and I’m glad to say the journey home proved out to be quite easy despite being loaded down with some bulky/heavy carrier bags.

I also managed to add five more Battle of Britain veteran signatures to my print, including Ulrich Steinhilper who, I’m pleased to say, managed to get into Duxford and was signing his book on the OFMC stand.

Lastly, it was a pleasure to meet again some familiar faces, and some new ones such as Stewart1a (did you get that photo of the only jet at Legends?), Setter, and the famous George. Sorry to miss others, including Kev35, and the meet at the Red Lion.

Oh well, looks like it’s the train & tube for me. Still it’ll be a chance to show I won’t be frighted off using these.

    See you there.

    Septic,

This sounds very interesting, and the date has been duly been noted on my calendar. I shall await further details with interest.

Hi guys, no it wasn’t a Bede, and it didn’t have twin booms. I think it was a ducted fan design, something similar to the Fantrainer, but I think it was a single seater.

For those of us going on the Saturday, will there be a forum rendezvous during the morning (for those who will spending the day away from the tank bank), or is the plan just for any of us that want to, to meet up on the tank bank ready for the display/Snapper’s picnic?

Also, for the benefit of those who’ve not attended a forum meet before, would it be a good idea to have some flag etc. that would enable them to find those of us on the tank bank amongst the rest of the crowd?

Going to the RAAF Museum tomorrow (Wednesday) to say ‘hello’ to a Walrus. I wonder if they left the starter handle aboard?

So you reckon you’ll be able to make it to Duxford for Legends then? 🙂 I didn’t think the cruising speed of a Walrus was that high 😮 Maybe this is the surprise ‘…and coming in from the left are The Walrus Pair.’

This was posted today on a similar thread at the BoBHS discusion board.

‘I spoke with Rick Taylor at Aces High a few weeks ago when they had Gordon Sinclair & Co there signing. It is true that Duxford for whatever reason have said ‘No’ to them attending albeit that they are highly decorated people in their own right. It seems, and I remember it well, because my father sent me a clipping from one of the Daily Tabloids, that a person from Royston Hertfordshire, had complained that Gunther Rall had been invited and he should not be there because he was shooting down our chaps over Germany. The celebrations therefore at that time should be reserved for the bomber crews there and not any of the Germans. Duxford at that time appeared to receive some bad press because Rall was there so therefore this is believed to be the reason why they have said ‘No’ to this event. That is why Rick has had to quickly get four 617 Sqn guys to cover the refusal by Duxford to have the 5 Knights Cross winners there!’

One question though, what is the Czech biplane trainers used at the beginning of the film? Must be quite a few of them around, look a bit like Tiger Moths so maybe modifications of them?

Have a look at that section with the director’s commentary on & it will explain all 🙂
