Daz, don’t know the date, but will pop into the shop again when I get the chance.
Geoff.
I have one too.
I was browsing in a local bookshop, when I came across a book on wartime Kent which had a photo of a crashed Stuka beside a broken off RDF mast. The Stukas code began ‘W8′ IIRC. This and the way the mast was broken off at about 20’/30’ (reminded me of an image I think I saw here) made me think it was really from the ‘BoB’ film rather than an actual 1940 image.

Nothing listed for 218 sqn on this date in ‘The sky their battlefield’.

I wish I had a photo of the Battle that our local ATC unit had during the war to play with. It was the trainer version with the two single cockpits & had been in France during the Blitzkreig.
If they’d built the twin-engined Battle proposed by Fairey in 1933… ‘The Battle File’ by Air-Britain says at one point ‘The Ministry was also interested in posible conversions of Battles to take P24 or Sabre engines for use as cannon armed fighters’!!
Geoff.
I’ll try to make it, though it’ll depend on ‘Croydon cabs’ being available.

I was amused by the sign at Dux yesterday.
‘Veteran Aircrew Signing Today’
The thought of scribbling my signature on an eighty-year old hero’s arm sort of tickled my sense of the absurd.
Moggy 🙂
It makes me smile when I see ‘Hand shredders’ (VERY painful 😮 ) or ‘Home laminators’ (how do you get out of the house  ) on sale.
Geoff.
Did quite a bit of research for this at Kew a few years back, and helped with info re 131 (County of Kent) Sqn whose Spitfires were all presented by the county, including ‘BEXLEY’ AD554/NX-Q, presented by the borough where I live. Must get in touch with ‘en re the free copy I was promised!
Geoff.
Benno,
Have you tried this appeal here on the Czech airmen in the RAF forum? http://cz-raf.hyperlink.cz/index.html
Geoff.
Doc, I would have loved to go but the museum’s Xmas get-together is on the same day, so no go I’m afraid.
Geoff.
The problem was that WW2 came too early for the German Navy, IIRC their building plan envisaged no war until 1946. See here for more on the ‘Z plan’ http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/zplan/index.html

Has no one seen the Whitley parked outside at Hendon?
