Many thanks for that Rich, I’ll pass the info on to the museum.
Geoff.
If anyone else would like to do something like this for any other of ‘The Few’, even if they died after the battle was over, then I’m sure the BoBHS would lend its support.
Geoff.
Now that’s just the sort of phone call I could do with just now. 🙁
Geoff.
I checked the hub today, but couldn’t see any markings on it at all????
Geoff
I’ll try and get that tomorrow.
Geoff.
The wheel was found on Leysdown Marshes, Isle of Sheppey, Kent, in 1954/55.
These are the markings on the wheel.

Could go either day, but Saturday more likely due to train service probably being better.
Geoff.
Should be there on the Saturday, with my brother.
Geoff.
Geoff, have you any shots that show the main spar area in a little more detail? Its amazing how the aircraft actually resembles a giant kit (of parts, which is what it is I suppose
This is the only other image I have of the Spitfire, I don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for.
Geoff.
Here you are
Geoff.
A few more photos of the monument taken by myself this morning.

and tweeds
I can just see James in his ‘Spitfire’ tweeds with the clipped trouser leg. 😀
Geoff.
I’m told that a Battle of Britain veteran’s signature is generally regarded as being worth £10 to the price of a print etc. Obviously the more famous names will command higher prices, and the number of signatories on it who are no longer with us will also affect the price.
Geoff.
Tracey,
I would be grateful if you could. Sadly due to various reasons I was unable to attend Steve’s funeral or to be at Old Warden for the minutes silence and Chipmunk display in his honour, so I would be very sad to have to miss this get-together in his memory too.
Geoff.
James,
All the individual names have now been sponsored for the monument I’m pleased to say.
I daresay you can still donate money to the monument fund. Was this a general question or do you have some Aussie Dollars burning a hole in your pocket?
Geoff.
