The outgoing leader of Malaysia said something hateful about Jews a while back which was barely mentioned in the world press. The Iranian leader’s remarks that Israel should be wiped out, made it to page 7 of our local paper today. It would appear that the new leader is bent on proving Iran is part of an “axis of evil”. The Islamic Jihad helped out by dispatching a suicide bomber into Israel to murder a few more Jews and celebrated the event as a “great victory” according to reports.
Can you imagine the fuss and outrage around the world, if an Israeli leader said something similar? It would be on the front page everywhere and the U.N. would pass another anti-Israeli resolution.
Sauron
Yeah, but we can eventually more or less ignore antisemitic/anti-Israeli remarks from such far-end-of-the-world countries, but when it comes to Iran, a country with a serious nuclear program, it’s a totally different game.
BTW, the terror attack yesterday also cost the life of an Israeli-Arab, not only Israeli Jews.
It is not something which should be taken lightly, to say the least. Ahmadinejad should know better than to express such views, being a president and all. Such statements won’t benefit the Palestinians or Iran.
Well, first I would like to say that I was personally pretty surprised and happy about the worldwide condemning of Ahmadinejad’s words, but would also like to add that it’s not the first time, and probably not the last time, that we hear similar statements from Iran.
And then some people ask me what do I think that Iran shouldn’t have a nuclear program. Basically, it can legally be considered as a decleration of war, and if and when Iran will be attacked, either by Israel or a worldwide coalition, we will bring his words to support this cause.

that’s an american pilot ? 😀
Equipment and flight gear?
Or do European pilots fly without helmets and G-suits? 😀
and the timing….this isn’t going to be good for the British.
Why? because of the terror?
Don’t worry, the exteremists will always found perfectly good reasons to hate the western world, with or without helping Israel

Arthur, I disagree. Advanced materials are basic for any A/c design.. specially military ones. I agree software also plays its part. But first you have to make all the components and then comes the software. Most of these advanced materials goes in places where heat is involved.. so mainly engines, wings, nose cone, engine intakes etc..
Even if you could build an entire reverse engineered F-16, what good would it be without the proper FBW software and the source code to install it?
It will crash like a rock 😉
Software comes first in modern fighter planes – hardware could be dealt a bit easier. For example, if you got some kind of a hard to make heat shield made of an advanced material in the engine, you should be able to find substitues. It won’t be as good as the original, but threoretically, under limitations, it could still fly.
Does Israel still deny the existance of nukes in their arsenal?
Israel never denyed or confirmed the existance of nuclear weapons in its arsenal. It’s a status called “Vagueness”. Enough to make sure that everybody and his brother will understand that we have a nuclear capability, and without having the troubles of making it official.

Don’t worry, blame the French 😉
(Which of course were the ones who gave us most of our nuclear techology, nothing really to do with the US)

I’ve seen the White House on Google Earth before.
Yes, you are right. I was wrong. There are however a few low rez spots in Washington, such as (I think it is) the United States Capitol building.
Who are ‘they’ – and why can’t they take images ??
There is nothing to stop the Chinese, Russians, Indians – in fact anyone who can lob a satellite into space into the right orbit – and who has the necessary hi-res cameras – from photographing ‘top secret’ bases – in Isreal or anywhere else.
Whether the said photos are then made available to Google Earth – or any other public domain – is a different matter…………………
But there is nothing to stop anyone taking the photos – if they have the means – surely ??
Ken
Exactly what I said:
If you really want good sattelite pictures of Israel and Area 51 you can still get them from other sources.
Of course it’s possible for practically anyone to get high resolution pictures of anywhere in the world – but only either by a personal order from a civilian company operating a civilian sattelite or by having your own sattelite (for countries).
And “they” are the people who built the program. And they are under supervision of the US Department of Defense.
Just go around Washington, for example – some of the buildings are “missing”, even the White House IIRC.
Point is why yankees are surprised about it.
Ah… sure they are…
You can’t zoom in everywhere you’d like because they haven’t mapped the whole thing out in high-rez yet. Apparently they update with new imagery every so often, check the forum over there for more info. Some of this stuff is a few years old, but for what it’s worth I still get a kick out of it, it’s just way too much fun to mess with!
Some of the areas would probably never be mapped with high resolution imagery, such as top secret bases and a few countries.
For example, they can’t take high rez pics of Israel. The US Department of Defense somehow don’t let them do it
It’s pretty idiotic though – why can’t they take pictures of civilian places of high public interest, such as Jerusalem for example? or Tel Aviv?
If you really want good sattelite pictures of Israel and Area 51 you can still get them from other sources. But that’s the way it is.
