Do you think that IAF, which is famous for its lack of information about own losses in any war, could reveal its true losses in any particular war ?
Could you tell us, who are the 5 best scoring Israeli pilots in 1982 war ? Their names, please. And in which publicatios we can find it ?
Firebar, I’m not going to argue with you, I just want to see the real list of “losses” that we had in 1982.
Remember this is a MiG-23 thread. I want to see whether Syrian MiG-23s shot down Israeli fighter planes. That’s it. After all, we know very well that Israeli fighter planes were shot down in 1973. Any list which isn’t aiming only to the Lebanon war is useless for me. You keep claiming that the IAF hides all or most of its losses, while in fact the opposite is correct. Losses were acknowledged, especially in 1973, and moreover – they provided important lessons for the IAF, which were implemented in 1982.
As for names of Israeli pilots, they are naturally largely unknown. Only a few names are known, of those who already retired, those who got to senior ranks or names mentioned in foreign publications.
Generally.
Generally isn’t good enough, as it doesn’t aim to the Lebanon war.
In which war?
The one from the middle is quite beautiful. Kind of an F-16 spin off.
BTW, I think Arthur once spoke about how friendly SyAAF base guards were with some of his spotter friends and that had a chat together or something like that.
talking from memory here.
Could be, but not when you try to peep over the fence…
Anyway, the SyAAF should be much more open about its pictures. I don’t expect them to show their most important assets, but seriously, MiG-2-1/3/5/9s are nothing new and are known to the west. If anything it might create some kind of deterrence.
The decent thing would of been to have a peep over the wall! I swear thats a Gerbil in the piccy lol. :diablo:
Not a good idea – In Syria you might get yourself shot trying to do so.
cool pics DeepSpace!
But what about that choper which is apparently in Israeli Airforce markings like Mig23
Whats the story behind that?
A bunch of Syrian Gazelles were captured by the IDF in 1982. Some were later used for a few years in the Israeli AF. At least one is still flying in Israel in the Israeli Electricity Company.
Actually, the F-16/79 would have been more expensive than the vanilla F-16A because of it’s redesign in the rear fuselage. Reason for the -79 was to be able to sell F-16s to countries not allowed to get F100 engines. Venezuela was to get F-16/79s, but eventually got normal F-16s exactly because the F-16/79 would have been more expensive.
That, and the change of government I think to the Reagan government that heated up the cold war and approved the sales of F-16s to other US allies, such as Venezuela.
I posted one in here a few weeks ago, thanks for the welcome 🙂 .
or else I would report you to WM, but I think you were smart enough to think about that possibility yourself, being a zionist and all  .
we all know you have issues and the discussions on ACIG.org show that very well.
Maybe it’s because it’s late now, but I can’t seem to find the pic. Can you repost it or something?
I quote from the ACIG article :
“Both Syrian pilots, Maj. Arshad Midhat Mubarak, and Capt. Ahmad al-Khatab, ejected safely and were recovered by Syrian ships.”
So may I ask how you do know that both pilots were killed, especially if the engagement did never happen.
Sorry Seahawk, I thought you related to pluto77189’s post about the B-2 “shoot down”.
inferior!!!!! I hope you are not using the expression ethincally here or else 😡 .
Kfadrat, welcome back.
No, I believe he was using the term “inferior” to describe the situation the Syrian Airforce was in.
BTW do you have any pics of Israeli fighter planes shot down over Lebanon in 1982?
If the claims are fake, then who benefit from this lie?
See the first reply.
Unless you have access to first hand accounts.
Or heaven’s phone number…
Dead pilots don’t give first hand accounts…
Not exactly license (or maybe yes), an IAI built Mirage V, the Dagger.
How is it possible that democratic state do not allow UN representatives for nuclear energy to check its nuclear facilities ?
Israels nuclear program is completely hiden, and that cast suspection to all other areas.
Even North Korea has allowed inspection.
About the nukes, it’s a completely different subject. And btw, even though all of the secret cover of the subject, it’s known to all that we have nuclear weapons. If you walk by that logic, people would have already hear about Israeli planes shot down in 1982. It’s a small country, with compulsory enlistment, so every civilian here knows one thing or two that he shouldn’t. Even me.
Believe what you will about the kill ratio. I show you the lists. There are probably pictures of any Israeli F-15 and F-16 after 1982. If you like, just see how many were “left” after the Lebanon war. You’ll see, that not a single one was lost.
