I agree with PLA.
first known close up of J10b.
Also nicely showing the avionics spine.
The HUD seems to be kind of wide angled. And seems to be carrying a real PL-8.
What exactly is the problem?
Try to play it from the net without downloading it π
No it didn’t, but the Lavi’s engine, the PW1120, was American, and was one of the project’s Achilles heels.
While in India, they are developing their own engine. It takes time, but I think that’s the right way.
The MCA, AFAIK, will be operated beside the PAK-FA. They can’t rely on just a single fighter plane type.
Also, who knows whether the PAK-FA project will be successful.
The LCA’s story sounds already too much like the story of the Lavi.
An advice from me to India – who cares if the LCA will be in service in 10 years from now? who cares if it will in service at all?
The main point of this project is the benefits in the longer term. More than a fighter plane, I see the LCA as a testbed for the MCA. Make all the mistakes you can now, learn for later.
When we cancelled the Lavi for just going a bit too costly, we suffered, and still suffer, a huge technological and economical damage. We were only smart enough to preserve the Lavi’s technology to be sold in other upgrade projects we are doing, and to further develop that technology. Although not the best case scenario, the sole development of the plane and its system helped us even without bringing the plane itself to service.
Still, I would recommend India to equip its future LCA fleet with the Kaveri engine. That way no country could press on you in the project, and one day India could finally become a high tech Asian power.
Don’t let the cynics fool you – a fighter plane project, especially for a country with little experience in the field, can take well over a decade, and usually it does.
Israel for example could have extended the Lavi’s development for another five years and save the project, but in hindsight, the time scale that was demanded for the project was crazy – about ten years of development. The Lavi’s counterparts, the Eurofighter and the Rafale, started in the same years but started entering service only in the recent couple of years.
What India should learn from Israel’s experience is to give a break to its industry. It might take some more time, but continuing the project will turn out in the future to be one of India’s smartest decisions ever.
I don’t know. I didn’t see any of them in any display nor photos, so maybe they are either still prototypes or that the AF doesn’t want other countries to know it uses them.
Perhaps they were exported somewhere.
And here are pics and info on the Opher.

They also got a page about the Lizard, but it’s not completed yet. Anyway, it can just show that that system really exists.

Ok, after some short googling…
Griffin – a laser seeker kit for the Mk.82/83/84 bombs.
Lizard – An improved version of the above, better accuracy. Both are IAI products.
Whizzard – An Elbit product. A laser seeker kit together with a fire and forget infrared imaging.
Opher – An Rafael product. Again a laser seeker kit, again together with an infrared seeker. Said to be able to smart enough to ignore already burning vehicles.
Information from http://www.vectorsite.net/twbomb4.html .
hmm.. I’m here Srbin π
Just a little busy with some projects and works… but here.
Anywho, what I got to add is that the Lizard is said to be a laser guided bomb π
That’s wierd Coach, I got that option enabled, and I already got mails from other users here in the pasts
I’ll write it here. Change the ‘&’ sign to an ‘@’ sign (I do that to avoide getting my email address picked up for advertisements and such).

The F-19 was also considered to be the F-117A in the early 80s.
BTW Coach, can you contact me on PM or email?
I’m seeing this thread a bit too late so of course I can’t reply to all of you together, but to those who say that “if Israel has nukes, why shouldn’t Iran have”, or that “Iran has a peaceful record”, all I got to say is this:
When the Iranian army displays on TV a Shihab missile with a sign on it saying “Israel should be wiped off the map”, excuse me for not feeling too comfortable or peaceful.
Who needs nukes, we got God at our side π
Really, I think it’s safe to assume that we do have nuclear weapons. The French people that worked here probably leaked information about it too.
I guess ItΒ΄d be more similar to the C.10 cockpit than the C.7 ….
but IΒ΄m not sure about…
Remember we are talking about the Cheetah E, the Kfir C7 look alike, and the C10’s look alike is the Cheetah C.
I am sure that it is the C.7, that is why I said the C.7
If you get the book Kfir by A.Dor and look at the C.7 cockpit, that is what the Cheetah E cockpit looks like
I wonder why :diablo:
Just a quick question on the Kfir C10. Does it have the 2 extra pylons in the fuselage near the air intakes? Can these pylons carry AAM’s?
Thanks..
It has the carring abilities of the C7, so yes.
But I think they can only carry AGMs.
