    Q.E.D. then!

    We think alike…

Incidentally, I always enjoy the quotation you attach to your posts.

“Aviation is a useless fad….” etc, etc.

    Thanks Papa Lima.

I read through the previous thread, as you suggested.

There is an awful lot of pontification and ill-advised computer graphics to wade through. However, buried deep in page two, someone said that Jeffrey Quill once wrote a three page article for them on this very subject. He stated that the colours were indeed Blue and Silver.

…and who would know better than him!

    Out… Roxeth.

First of all… a very Happy Christmas to all on the Forum!

    I got the Witty-Wings G-FURY die-cast model.

I got The Biggin Hill International Air Fair 2007 – DVD

…and the entire series of ‘Foyle’s War’ (Not quite within the remit of this forum, but top stuff nonetheless!)

Thanks Santa (even if i had to get them all myself!)

    Out… Roxeth.

Sorry to keep on about this…. But!

The Booker Mk1a G-AIST/AR213 will look almost exactly like this (albeit different codes/serial) when painted unless they put the nose stripes ON!

I just can’t see what the owners are scared of… They have a unique aeroplane with a unique colour scheme. What’s the problem?

Anything less is simply a missed opportunity in my view.

    An advisement for the owners…

Don’t be afraid! Put the stripes ON!

The aircraft will look all the better for it.

Thanks to all who have responded to this post so far.

Much interesting information and great photo’s.

I think it just serves to illustrate how influential they were and the regard in which they are still held.

I Still miss Ray (and Mark – a terrible shame)

I well remember showing up at Elstree (my local aerodrome when i was a lad) one weekend, knowing the completion of Spencer Flack’s Spitfire (G-FIRE) was immenent. It was a foul day, but imagine the excitement. As luck would have it, we got there just as Ray Hanna was strapping in for the first flight!

    Fantastic!

Very exciting days… (before the advent ‘Spitfire Ltd’ and such like)

    Whatever happened to…..?

The Hon. Patrick Lindsay’s fleet? We know the Spitfire 1a has just flown again at Booker. But what of the Hawker Fury (replica), the Fiat, the Morane etc…?

    Neil Williams Jungmann G-BECX?

Also, what is Anthony Hutton (Yak 11 owner/Harvard Display team) up to these days?
