    A third confirmation, definitely Hurricane MkII. The plate on the ‘tail wheel leg’ where you read E6583, should also be marked ‘Dowty’. Odd to have green paint though. See PM.

    No need to rush to the library, One Hurricane One Raid covers the raid of Saturday 31 Aug 40, with only passing references to 26 Aug.
    Regarding items ‘lying around’ for years in the local area, in the mid 80s one of the ‘used’ parachutes from that raid was still to be seen in a trunk in the local hospital where it had been put in 1940 – since transferred to the more appropriate location of the local museum.
