Low and Slow, I wish I could have seen those photos when working on a painting of a Twin Pioneer over Seletar last year.

There are two versions of this painting, one in the crewroom of No 1(F) Squadron and a second copy painted for Al Pollock. I have a not very good photo of the first, but I am sure Al Pollock will be pleased to take a piccy of his, the better version, for you. We all have digital cameras and email now.

Copyright remains with the artist but I am happy for the image to be reproduced for non-commercial purposes, and wish your Hunter gathering every success.

    Robert, thanks for speedy reply.
It won’t be K9794 in the foreground then. I’ll get my green and black paints out and alter the serial number if you would like to choose the one you think has the best or, most interesting, provenance.
Of course, I could change it to one of the K9800 serials, but it has taken so long to get the curve right on the K979…

Wow! Very impressed with your kind responses and photo sources. Markings are all set, but now I want to choose a serial number from the initial batch of Mk1s delivered to 19 Sqn: K9789 thru K9799.

Does anyone know if any of these Spitfires went on to fight in the Battle of Britain with any success? I gather that K9792 was written off after a landing mishap. Especially curious about the fate of K9794.

Thanks to you all for speedy and expert replies. I now know where to ask for advice on tricky research matters.

They may be very minor details but, when dealing with aircraft, a small mistake in the detail can spoil a picture bigtime. You will surely have seen from the many horreurs that have been published how easy it is to do this.

Propstrike, no prizes for guessing what my next subject is. If only I could get Wingspan rates in Flypast!

Thank you, they are brilliant. The system works. I could have saved myself days of trawling the web for photo references if I had known about this site earlier. Can I get 6×4 prints?
