    Let 410 Folks:

The picure below is one of the two 5 bladed props on the tragic accident of a Let 410 while on ILS to Toncontin Airport and some 4.5 NM from touchdown.

While the investigation of this tragic accident is still ongoing, can the props/engine folks tell us in this prop was turning or not at the time of impact? Photo La Prensa via www.

    Good day!

These “abandoned” F-86Ks across the pond are becoming interesting by the day!

The F-86K book by D. Curtiss mentions F-86K 55-4866 as one of the first F-86Ks to arrive in Oberpfaffenhefen, W. Germany on 22 July 1957. It also mentions that most of the bare metal samples went immediately into storage at the same base.

We would like to see if possible fm other members photos/data of any Luftwaffe F-86Ks in bare metal schemes c. 1957-1967, particularly our Curacau sample FU-866 or any others in storage at Oberpflaffenhefen.

In the photo below a center fuselage & tail section of FU-866 at Curacao c. 1981. Photo G. Hilltermann via Stony.

    Scrapyard Photos

    Interesting thread indeed.

Included is a recently found picture of F-86K poss 55-4866 at Hato Int Airport , Curacau W. Antilles. Yes, from across the pond c. 1982.

The sample included is 1 of 4 F-86Ks found in one of the hangars at the Hato airport in containers that never reached for some reason the Venezuelan coast in c. 1966. The sad part of the story is that all 4 samples were placed to pasture for fire training purposes when no owners were found. Fuselages airframe were 0 Hrs!

If any of you has other pics/info before or after the burning it will be nice to know. Photo G.Hiltermann/milaviation.com. Tks
