DC-3 Folks:
Sad news indeed!
These DC-3s & crews (some females Capt) earn their pay under the most demanding schedules & weather conditions. You may see ’em in U-tube.
Included here is HK-4700 while at the paint shop somewhere in Colombia c. 2011 under another logo “Laser” . Photo via AEC. May all those souls rest in a much better place!

Good day!
The pics posted above by Pete & spotters are of the original XFAH 603 Buno 123168. There were no FG-1D samples with FAH. Additionally, the Buno posted fm WIX needs to be updated.
p.s Some confusion may arise fm the Latin F4U schemes since all 3 users, Argentina, Honduras & El Salvador used the dark blue fuselage & the Blue-White-Blue colors at the rudder with some variations.

Good day!
Do you still have some photos of your visit to FAH 609 at Toncontin Base c. 1990s??
Malaysian B-777 Folks:
….and there is always plan “B”! CNN reported today of an experiment with a cell phone (Samsung) dropped in salty water in a small special aquarium for 8 day at the Chicago Aquarium. They had a bit of corrosion but with the proper lab technics the main chip was recovered ok. They were capable to retrieve text, photos & video. In case we do not find the B/boxes then the poss exist to find something in the Cell phones of pax that were awake during the flight. Long shot also!!

This case is getting a bit more interesting with the passage of time. You may be right, if he was inside the L/wheel well, that area may be a lot warmer than previously thought. The only prob is surviving for so long (5 hrs) w/o O2?? Some Drs are a bit perplexed by it. Believe it or not there are a few case studies on these incidents.
The latest info on this side of the world is that the adventure about going to Hawaii was a random act. Did he leave a note for his parents?? where a 15-16 yr old get this idea from?? Why choose San Jose Airport?

Good day!
Interesting story as told! I think like the previous comment says he was prob inside the baggage compartment area. I believe that area is a bit warmer. This one lucky fellow does not remember what happened. We also do not know the long term outcome of the trip. Some snakes have been also found inside aircraft!! Missing cats also! It was after all a good landing! There has to be more details!!

Good day!
Yesss! that’s it! Tks.
Kind of awkward bird if you ask me. Your sample was prob taken still at the Bell factory. Some other folks mention some CG issues with the TP-39/TP-63 samples & some structural problems afterwards. If you see other samples at the former USSR Air Museums plz post.

Tks for the info & data on the Swedish samples! Would also luv to see the UK samples known as Harvards MK-1s c. 1938. Included in the pic below is the “solitary” China demo sample NC 16025 prior to its ferry flight to the Honduras AF (FAH)in c, 1937. Photo NAA Archives/AEC. It survived until c. Sept/1980 & its final destination is ukn at this time.
Tks in advance!

Good Day & Greetings fm across the pond!
What a magnificent set of pictures & restoration of a fine flying machine!! Your pictures show some detail of the landing gear struts Tks. I’ll be writing the SAF Museum folks for some other angles of it during the restoration process. If you have some cockpit pics plz post. Now we get to see a bit of the “uncover” section of the landing gear strut. Will post some other Latin samples soon!
Take care!
Tks for the time & attention!
