Nice shot of Ethiopian Mi-171 (or Mi-17 1V – what is the difference between these two by the way?)

Roughly, Mi-17 and Mi-171 are export versions of the Mi-8.
Mi-171 is the export version of the Mi-8AMT built at Ulan-Ude and Mi-17-1V is the export version of the Mi-8MTV-1 built at Kazan.

So what came first the original B-1A or the Myasishchev M-18? :confused:

Difficult to say, M-18 stayed a drawing concept, only becoming desktop model.
It’s beginning can be traced back to 15th september 1969 when MAP directive authorised further development of the concept.
