John did about 10 Yak3 reproductions, some are flying (2 in france are flying now, but we have 3 of them total in the country), and some are just nearly finished and/or in private places and non flying .
The ones in france are now accumulating many hours and their owners are happy as we didn’t hear they wanted to get rid of their toys !!!
Marc (leon) is definitly a great pilot and all we can say is that the french crew that make possible that FW190 to fly for so many hours since last year have done much more than any other FW in the world, they did again a huge work on the landing gear, the electrical systems etc…
F AZXZ
Just to confirm that F AZXZ used to be registered N3YK and is a Garric Yak 3 built on a Yak11 basis …and is a common performer on the french airshow circuit …
I’ve never heard about the harvard “special behaviours” until now…flew T6G for some years and can’t remember something obvious…i guess the harvard has something that is not common with the T6 right ??
Sorry to add a modification : F AZOK is owned by Stephane LANTER and is based Pontoise (north west paris) (aircraft has been restored by Mr Toublanc La Ferté Alais/Orly)
Ok, that’s really interesting, may i modify the list and add
YAK C11 N°171814 Laurent LECOMTE ex Hungarian air force, under restoration NANTES.
YAKC11 N° 171315 ex Laurent LECOMTE is now owned by Bertrand DANGLADE (La Rochelle) under restoration Lithuania .
I was just looking at some youtube footage of the recently completed Yak-3 F-AZLY, …
F AZLY is a garric production, carrying the colors of the YAK3 VK107 prototype ….
In France we have 2 Yak3 VK107 produced by john GARRIC in flying condition, another one is privately stored but was in flying condition …then we have two Yak3U powered by R2000 engines (one in la ferté alais and one in the west of paris)
No Orenburg production that are less appreciated there ….(the only one used to be Mr Jacquard’s yak3 around 2000)
Here is a link to youtube movies where Roger Uytterheagen is seen doing a roll with the F104, then flying the fouga with frederic bourdais in california city ..Roger is now a much appreciated 777 captain with air france …able but also humble and great guy !!!
Enjoy …

Have the starter itself as fitted to my chippie when bought via PHILIPPS in 1996, but no tech doc ….
That’s a lovely looking little aircraft i find !!
They used a L12, the one based in France and owned by Bernard Chabbert, they flew her down to south africa to do the footages …then flew her back to france !!
If anybody around wants to book the Caudron , just email …
Old Warden would be great …
Bookings are ok in France, there is room for UK appearances …
Well John is working using the original blue prints provided by the “Musée de l’air” in paris; the era of that Potez is “the thing” behind that idea, the Potez was well known during the “Campagne de France” against Germans, and i wonder what would be such an airplane if fitted and strong enough to be fiited with RR engines !!
John and his wife Nicole are linked anyway to that era as they are the ones taking care of our best ace alive “Marcel ALBERT” who was one of the main pilots of the “Normandie” squadron in Russia. John painted his personnal yak with Marcel’s colors and they give everyday care to Marcel ALBERT !!!
That is to say that John not only build yaks and a potez, but he and his wife give their time to one of our best example of WWII fighter pilot .
I will post something about that subject soon, because Marcel ALBERT used to fly in UK in 1941 and his flightlog is very interesting ….
He might install R985, less power than the original rhone engines, but the airframe is now lighter than the warbird…so ratio should be approximately identical…
