A crumpled engine cowling from a Beaufighter crash site on Islay had the entire serial daubed on the inside and others from the same site where the serial was neatly stencilled.

This enables a quick confirmation of position where doubt exists.eg “Nine Tango Mike have you vacated the runway ? ” or in the case of circuit de confliction ” Golf Tango Echo from India Romeo ,whats your height? ” Sadly many pilots are reluctant to use radio unless air traffic is doing the talking.
