At the switch on of the Blackpool illuminations in 1969 Talbot Square was bedecked with many models from the film a mix of large and smaller ones, at least 20 of them, to switch on the lights a Canberra dropped a very bright photo flare over the North pier which prompted a council worker to operate a switch….

I recall that at some time at RAFGSA Bicester there was a very rare Chipmunk look a like , a Hindustan HT2 as part of Dick Strattons quest for tugs. Did that happen or is it just my cobwebby grey cells getting it wrong. And if it did happen where did it go?

Across the world are relics which survive in situ because they are big,heavy, remote. That does not put off souvenir hunters which is now evn a greatr threat due to on line sales. Unless 24 hour protection is funded I can only suggest that sites are cleared to safe storage pending museum display.

My first RAF base in 1973 was Valley where 4 FTS operated a mixed Hunter fleet alongside Gnats, I could not have imagined that 49 years later some of them would still be flying. Lucky to also see the last airworthy Javelin call on trials being flown at Llanbedr.

The idea of a series allows for more drama regarding personalities,it is a tricky challenge once you move away from documentary style.What ever is created it will always annoy someone.

Not Channel but salt water…http://www.rod-macdonald.co.uk/index.php/Scottish-Wrecks/ss-breda.html I have seen mention of engine parts but never any aircraft fabric and the cargo included Tiger Moths and other bi planes.

Have you considered that operating costs are reducing the resident ex mil jet population in the UK ? Fuel is more expensive here than some other countries.

se5a fan….its a good idea to place a credit line onto every pic you post on line, otherwise you risk them becoming orphan works, they wander the net and get shared again and again with no credit and a credit line makes it easier for any commercial user to contact you to agree fees.
