    Encouraging results

    I used to visit and research aircraft crash sites on land and underwater and have been involved in a few small scale recoveries.What this thread demonstrates is that many of the parts seen and dismissed as scrap 30 years ago have a role to play. Fortunately there are now dedicated people re visiting sites and organising proper recovery with an aim of using original parts for static. And by chance I did visit the Whernside Barracuda before recovery.

    I have not seen anyone firing flack at Pima on here regarding displaying a Spitfire. I have read understandable concern about a rare mark of Spitfire being chosen as the loan example.

    The Wallace fuselage is noted as going into storage in the article on the changes at the RAF museum in last aeroplane mag,perhaps you can ask for it to come back to Newark?

    Could it be that the reason for choosing this particular Spitfire is that is was being prepared to move from display at Hendon and therefore was the most convenient one to hand? The staff might not be as aware that it is a particular rare mark.

    With the changes to the RAF museum at Hendon removing the Battle of Britain section the importance of the Kent museum increases . I hope the support ensures the future plans of the museum.

    I have read the article and remain puzzled about the gaps in understanding, seems she has been poorly briefed.How hard is it to have a target list of desired aircraft researched and a regular update made? Even in this thread there are people who are already involved in liasing with the museum and she is not aware. Good luck to her and her team for the future, I will hope that we can be shown a fine gathering of aircraft for the celebrations.
