That legends show seemed to be fantastic judging by the pics here and on UKAR. I could not attend due to distance and needing to work. It must have been a good show because most of the comments here relate to voice broadcasts over the tannoy and if that was the only issue then the organisers did well.

Firstly my respect to all those who flew and also those who worked in the support jobs during the battle. At times just having the will to keep going was a challenge met by most.

Secondly..the aspect of young people being interested. I agree with posters who cite PC games as being a lead in rather than schooling. A son of a best friend is now obsessed with WW2 and has gained this interest directly from gaming.

Interesting section in the prog on the high speed flight,I recall the diagram that Andy Saunders shared was published in an early issue of Aircraft Illustrated ina feature on the Meteors with great drawings and pics.

And for those who consider these expeditions a Holiday I would say that being in the tropics on sunglare blistering beaches with hordes of sandflies,leech and insect ridden jungle ,high humidity,limited supplies with search work and survey recording to complete is not a holiday. I have been there,done it and literally got the T shirt( but not for TIGHAR)

There are a few reality Tv shows about salvage companies and you can see the wide variety of attitudes and skill levels on public show. What happened to this aircraft is sad but not a one off occurance as Mustang 51 points out.

Wh 904..the YAM is diverse and the website explains what is on site,it is a very well run museum thanks to many volunteers.I think you should spend time being critical of the owners of hundreds of airframes rotting outside across the Uk with no effort at all to conserve them instead of aiming at the loss of one not so rare airframe.

Its all on their well organised website. And have a look at my earlier link about the BAPC, you will find they have looked at all sorts of aspects of aircraft preservation and YAM is a long term member. I Think you are far to critical regarding the scrappimg of one airliner.
