Hm, i wanted one of those beaded things on my ejector seat.
Come to think of it, if we all pooled our money u think we could buy something just for “bombing” around in on weekends?

Doesn’t matter. I just found where i read it….it was on these boards. We’ve already given it a thorough discussion. My mistake.
I have a nice Corgi diecast model of a TU4, but the Russian bomber, not a Chinese version, and just for comparison it sits beside a model of the Enola Gay on a shelf in my bedroom, both same scale.
This is the worst CG’d pic on these boards ever but im still proud of my concept:D
Does anyone know why the MH-68A Stingray won the tender for a “gunship” type helicopter. Surely Dauphins could do the same job or Jayhawks and that would cut down down on number of types in service. Actually I could just imagine a HueyCobra painted white with a big red stripe on it.
The USCG seem better equipped than many of the worlds navies or air forces.Give them back the Harpoons on the Hamilton Class ship, strap some AMRAAMS onto those HU-25s with their AN/APG-66 radar and you have a force capable of halting most ships on the sea or planes in the sky that could conceivably be used by drug runners.
No, sorry, I don’t know. I’ll hunt around sometime later for an answer on the USCG in the Gulf
This Blk 60 is really, really ugly. I’m sure it is an utterly fantastic and capable aircraft but it really is ugly. I can find beauty in aircraft like the Warthog, BUFF and herks but this and the Mil Hips are just ugly. And are you people rubbishing the looks of the F4? Shame on you.
I thought the Enforcers had a door mounted, hand aimed machine gun. They appeared in an AFM issue a few months back, not sure which one. I think it said they are the only gunships in use by a law enforcement agency or something like that. My understanding of the role of the USCG is that it is a federal agency like the FBI, Customs and others. It can though be brought under the command of the military in times of war but isn’t usually. Some of its ships were actually in the gulf during the war policing Iraqi port facilities. I don’t know if they are still present. The Department of Homeland Security as I understand it hasn’t brought the services under one command. It just seems to be making sure they are all communicating with each other so that intelligence and resources are shared when needed.
Also the C23 Sherpa is one of Short Brothers most successful products. A great aircraft in its class and built a couple of miles from my house.
I spent a few minutes analyzing the photo and the whole F14 has been added. There are some problems with the light levels and the wheels are partially sunk into the ground. The PRC decals are a nice touch and whilst the thought of an F14 from an Iranian source flying in chinese colours is intriguing this isn’t one.The photoshopping of course rules this out as being one that was being worked on by Grumman.Anyway, F14s sometimes fall out of the air like rice at a wedding so I don’t think chinese test pilots with no experience would keep this in the air for testing for long. The chinese wouldn’t have had experience with a fighter this big and heavy until the Su27 surely?
Englands little gitters with the IRA which is technically no longer a problem.
Sorry but I hate to start an argument but I have lived in Belfast all my life. The ROI government doesn’t like the IRA anymore that the British do and they aren’t going to charge them anymore for jets. The IRA have nothing to do with the Irish government and don’t. Also the IRA are still a massive problem here. To quote Gerry Adams talking at a Republican rally after the so called ceasefire “they haven’t gone away ya’ know”.He grinned after this, got a cheer from the crowd, confirmed that the IRA will cause trouble any time they don’t get what they want. Things have actually got worse here since the ceasefire. The bombs are still being planted, people being shot and attacked but because the IRA and others have declared a ceasefire its just not getting the coverage it did.Their criminal activites such as drug running and other stuff is also causing havoc. For an example for the none Irish here imagine a turf war between the Mafia, Russian Mafia, Yardies, Yakuza, Triads, Colombians and Haitians, yep its that bad. Ok that has nothing to do with jets but I have to correct anyone who talk about the IRA not technically being a problem.
I don’t know. It looks better than its predecessor but it does look like someone crashed an EH101 or NH90 into a Mil 17.
This thread has kinda spiralled out of control. I was only intending it to include bad paint schemes, crap modifications, scrappings and other stuff. Wasn’t expecting a full blown slanging match between everyone of war crimes and international shennanigans.
I always liked the look of the Broncos. Good layout for a COIN aircraft. Pity they arent in production any more. Would suit many small countries needs. Anyone have pics of the cargo bay in use? Also anyone have pictures of the gun turret some of the Marine models had fitted? I think they used it as a gunship a la Spectre.
If anyone is wondering why I put in F3 Mk1 Tomcats it is because there was almost a Tomcat variant in RAF service. When looking for replacement for its Phantoms we nearly ended up with a Grumman Tomcat variant rather than the Tornado. I’m just giving it the same designation (F3) since that one was open.
