OK – Name and Shame it is then!
OK Name and Shame it is then ….
Im SO sorry if the messenger got in the crossfire! It was NOT aimed at him but comments like ‘ownership in dispute’ do not lie easily with me! That comment generated the naff email i got sent which i have attached below so, “b47e” be a man and say sorry via a PM …that will do! End of matter!
Here is the posted item which ruffled my feathers:
“Dear neiltheaviator,
How can these airframes be offered up to all & sundry on eBay, when they are now owned by Dodd’s the liquidators of Millom ? Surely thats a criminal act and especially so to take money off the winner when the vendor is no longer the legal owner ?

Enough on this …Fly Safe…
Use of PMs
May i suggest useage of PMs so kindly provided on these forums when it comes to one on one!
Just for the record, Its NOT aimed at the chap above as im NOT shooting the messenger!
It was aimed fair and squarely at the person who said i should go to jail …!!!
Enough of this rubbish now ladies!
Ownership confirmation.
Nothwithstandig the above article published by NW Evening Mail, I need to confirm that the 2 aircraft for sale on Ebay belong to Lakes Lightnings and NOT RAF Millom Museum and as such are NOT Museum property as the slightly misquoted narrative may suggest!
Dodds & Co are very aware that ownership of HS748 nose and Whirlwind XN298 is firmly with Lakes Lightnings hence my offering them up for sale on ebay.
The Stalwart Staff of RAF Millom Museum project have been working like trojans out of the limelight dealing with this tragic unforseen closure putting MANY MANY long hours in for no reward except to sort out the chaos left behind for the greater good of Aviation Preservation!
I would just like to make you all out there aware of their tremendous efforts and tribulations are well worthy of a pat on the back and recognition …THANK YOU ALL!! Stirling Efforts all round!
NO OWNERSHIP DISPUTE HERE
Oh by the way, regarding a comment made above in post 1166, sorry i forgot to HIGHLIGHT THAT THERE IS NO OWNERSHIP DISPUTE HERE… if you are bidding, do so with confidence as Lakes Lightnings IS the rightful owner and i have email correspondence from Dodds the Accountants acknowledging that FACT!!
We like FACTS!!! …..Especially ones that are correct!!
Cheers all, Fly Safe

HS748 and Whirlwind for sale – Remain Calm !!
Remain Calm!!
Im responding to post above number 1166 regarding Dodd the Accountants handling Milloms liquidation…
Lakes Lightnings owns HS748 and RN Whirlwind for sale on ‘e’ site and Dodds didnt know the identity of the seller (because its an ebay name of course).
They were protecting MY interests as they didnt know it was still Lakes Lightnings putting up the for sale so, ive had a couple of naff comments made by uninformed persons!
All I wish to say is get your facts right before you sling stuff around in public… a forum is a debating place and a source interest and info!…make it so!
Splendid Pics of XS456
Splendid pics of XS456 …THANK YOU for posting them!

29 sqn and our Lightning XS897
Hello all,
‘Lakes Lightnings’ here, owners of F6/F3 Lightning XS897 on loan to 29 Sqn and yes, i can confirm that things are going slowly and its all due to budget issues!
There is the dreaded Tax Year start/finish event which occurs every April as we all know.
The paint shop had quoted a price to paint her up but that estimate fell in last years figures so, OC 29 is now waiting for a revised estimate for THIS Tax Year!!! ….. and the wait continues.
Make no mistake, 29 Sqn is extremely busy with its primary task and going along at 100% and ‘minor things’ like our gateguard Lightning are on an ‘as and when’ basis.
At least she is tucked up in a hangar out of the weather so H & I relatively happy about that.
We too wait for the great unveilling and im afraid, its not likely to be at the Families Day event which is rapidly approaching.
I hope this helps clarify the situation. It has been a funny year indeed!
Newarks Lightning T5 restoration.
Lakes Lightnings will be loaning N.A.M its T5 instrument crates and cockpit panels to be used as templates for the refurbishment of this lovely beast.
The instrument panels come from T5 XS420 currently on loan to F.A.S.T. Museum at Farnbro.
See you at Cockpitfest 2010!
Lakes Lightnings are interested!
Lakes Lightnings are interested!
Yes we have been in touch with the owner and discussed options but nothing has come of it so far.
Our intentions/dreams would be to move her to Brunters for sure.
If nothing comes of this, then we do have other options starting to appear on the horizon!!…XS420 maybe!
Loan of Cockpit panels for templates
Hello Curator,
Regarding your post 28 above, ‘Lakes Lightnings’ have agreed to loan Newark all the Lightning T5 cockpit instrument panels we have so you can generate copies/templates for your forthcomming restoration of XS417.
The panels we have pertain to our T5 XS420 on loan to F.A.S.T. Farnborough.
The panels will be arriving on site at Newark soon if not before Cockpitfest 2010!..Promise!

Al ain Cockpits from the UK
The Al Ain 2010 Airshow was truely splendid! Not to mention hot and sunny for a January!
It was the 8th Airshow event and like most Airshows these days, seems to be growing year by year.
As a sideline to this, ‘Lakes Lightnings’ and Hunter GA11 WV381 were fortunate enough to go there as sideshow events to allow the public to get up close to cockpits.
Pic attached but article to follow in FLYPAST soon hopefully.
Just thought i d wet your appetite.

Only 4 complete F1a airframes still survive
Just to add to our bretheren out there that XM192 is one of only FOUR F1a complete airframes remaining so, this is quite a rare beast.
XM172, XM173, XM192 are in the UK and XM178 is at the French aircraft museum in Sauvigny-Les-Beaune.
Fly Safe
Splendid news indeed.
Splendid news indeed that XM192 has a ‘pulse’ of sorts especially after all these years….quite remarkable….VERY WELL DONE you.
I wish you all well with the venture and if Lakes Lightnings can be of any help, please send me a PM.
Im looking to do similar with F1a’s XM172 & XM173 but not for the next few years so, XM192 leads the way and hopefully, will show us how its done!!
Happy Christmas all …fly safe
