Thanks for that Bmused. Hope it wasn’t too long. I certainly am a big EZY fan since I’ve taken these flights. They just seem to try very hard to get things right & I’ve only ever seen one delay on the BIO-BRS route since I started spotting at BIO in March.
So what about if you want to take a pair of scaissors or a pocket knife? These cannot go in hand luggage. MOL really is going too far. The more I hear about Ryanair, the less I want to fly them. No checked luggage? What a joke!
I quite like it. It’s certainly different. Good job Nasir
I agree Bmused. I think if they’d had a bit more time (and money obviously), they would have had a nice little airline there.
Iberia’s prices are not low cost but its’ service is. It really annoyed me because the crew ere good & I would have enjoyed the flight much more if I hadn’t had to pay for food. What annoys me more is that they try to advertise this as something positive for the passenger! The food was admittedly quite good but just far too expensive. Also, they have changed my return flight from EAS-MAD on 28th August so I now leave at 9am instead of 9:45. I do get 45 minutes more spotting in MAD before my flight to LHR but it will mean a 3 hour wait in MAD & I won’t get any food between 9:00am and 3:30pm (Spanish time). I wiksh I’d booked the codeshare on the BA flight leaving MAD at 1:30pm now.
The last thing that bugged me about this (sorry to bore you all with my moans) was that I transferred on to an Air Nostrum flight from MAD-EAS and received a fresh cup of coffee in a china mug with a metal spoon (which I “borrowed”!) and this was only a 55 minute flight. Air Nostrum also serve a full breakfast on morning domestic flights and a full meal on all European flights at mealtimes. Pull your finger out Iberia!
I have flown BMIbaby, Hapag-Lloyd Express and Easyjet and I have to say all were excellent. I really liked BMIbaby’s allocated seats as it avoided the rush for the aircraft and the pushing and shoving. What I was less impressed with on baby was the price of drinks but these are expensive on all LCC’s. HLX were great with their leather seats, airshow and reasonably priced snacks (sandwich & a drink for €5 if I remember correctly). What I was less happy about was the scrum at the gate for the good seats but I still got row 1 as no one was beating me! EZY I really like as they allow me to visit my family in Swansea for a reasonable price and from/to convenient airports. Their crews are fantastic (I’ll be posting a trip report on my EZY flights last weekend as well as my upcoming ones this weekend some time next week) and the soft drinks are reasonably priced. I don’t know how they can justify £1.60 for a cup of water with a tea bag in it but I just avoid buying tea/coffee etc. Again I don’t really like free seating as it creates hell around the gates but I suppose it gets people on board quicker & so speeds up turnaround.
The only other LCC I have been on is Iberia! I was NOT impressed as when I booked my ticket I was told I’d get food & drinks included but by the time I flew, the policy had changed to their “Tu Menú” supposedly upgraded catering that you have to pay for. €10 for a plate of Spanish meats, a muffin & a drink does not represent good value for money to me but I’d been travelling since 5am & this was lunchtime so I had no choice. Had I known, I would have eaten in the airport.
OK, rant over, I enjoyed my flights on the 3 LCC’s I have travelled on. All were clean, relatively comfortable and above all punctual. I have never flown Ryanair but I would be apprehensive about booking a ticket with them as I wouldn’t want to be left stranded if anything went wrong.
I saw a Sun Air of Scandinavia BAe ATP registration OY-SVU parked on the ramp in Bilbao yesterday. Painted in British Airways colours with the “Wings” world tail. Haven’t got a clue what it was doing there but it was quite interesting all the same. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a photo as it was impossible to get a decent shot of it due to where it was parked.
Doesn’t a codeshare with AF seem a bit strange being that QF are in OneWorld and AF in Skyteam? I assume it’s because the only other way to get to Paris by OneWorld would be to go via LHR which would put passengers off.
All I can say is well done Flybe. Nice to see some good customer service and a bit of common sense from a Low Cost airline.
Well I’m glad you’re all as disgusted about this as me. I can’t believe people will go to such lengths to rubbish an airline based on one bad experience that can happen to any airline at any time. Thought you’d all be pleased to know that the review has been deleted from Carsurvey.org. Deleted reviews do however have a habit of re-appearing so let’s hope this one doesn’t.
I’m glad it’s not only me that got toatlly pi**ed off at these people. Why can’t they work out that it’s better to be inconvenienced than to end up not making it to your destination. The other thing is, if they’d gone and had to divert, the service would have been even worse as there wouldn’t have been any BMI staff there to assist them.
Haven’t they ever heard the song “Always look on the bright side of life”? 😀
Just thought you’d all be interested to know that on both my EZY flights on the weekend, the window blinds were up for take off and landing and on my flight yesterday they specifically announced that blinds should be up for landing. I’ll post a full trip report as soon as I have chance (suppose I should work really!).
I don’t know how effective they are. I have read in a few books (can’t remember which ones off the top of my head) that cockpit crews feel that passengers would be safer with belts similar to theirs whereby you lock a shoulder strap in to the lap belt for take off and landing but can undo it once you’re airborne. I personally think this would be a great idea but it probably won’t happen for economic reasons. In my opinion, the lap belt would not be very effective in an emergency as very often when you land, the reverse thrust nearly pulls you out of your seat even with your belt on (I’ve noticed this more on the A32x than any other type of aircraft by the way).
OK, I just re-read the post about the seatbelts and you’re right! That is VERY bad not informing people to fasten their seatbelts. I wonder if they even got a safety demo on that flight?
Possibly Bmused but if you look at Pablo’s experience above, it was on BA! I’m not an avid Ryanair supporter and I think Michael O’Leary is one of the most arrogant ba****** in the world. I do however feel that you should not criticise something which can (and does) happen on all airlines.
