Just a quick question: What has travelling in comfort got to do with spelling and grammar?
Good one Ren!
I inadvertently forgot to buckle up on my last flight (on landing) and the cabin crew didn’t notice. It was only as we were arriving on the gate at LHR that I noticed. This was with BA.
That’s really bad. I’ve never experienced this in all my years of flying. In fact, on AF, they asked me to show them that I had my belt on as it was covered by my t-shirt. Interestingly though, afetr they made the announcement about not putting your belt on on the ground in MAN, more people boarded & they didn’t repeat it. Maybe they’d finished fuelling?
Looks like I beat you to it Mike J π
You were probably refuelling at the time. I had this on an AF flight in Manchester a fortnight ago. The FA’s came on the PA to say that as we were refuelling could all passengers leave their seatbelts off. This is to allow everyone to deplane very quickly should a fire break out. This is almost certainly the explanation especially considering Ryanair’s short turn around times.
Are you referring to the weather in Spain? If so it’s glorious sunshine & has been for weeks. At midday the temperature gets up to about 34ΒΊ. Stunning! I’m in the far North of Spain where the weather is frequently cr*p apparetntly so god knows how hot it is in the South at the moment!
I would definitely be up for it but I’m still in Spain. I would love to meet up with some of you any time from late September to early October as I’ll be back in uni in Salford and have much more free time.
Don’t mention it. Always glad to help. I will definitely keep you posted about EZY’s policy (won’t be until monday though as I’m going home for the weekend & have to pay for internet there whereas I can get it free in work :D).
Don’t feel like an idiot. The whole point of these forums is to ask questions, get answers and gain knowledge. Never feel stupid for asking something you didn’t know. Also, if it was your first flight, how are you supposed to know if it’s procedure or not? I’m flying EZY this evening. I’ll let you knnow if I have to put my blinds down or not.
Once again, don’t feel stupid & I’m glad I was able to give some useful information.
I’ve never been asked to close the blinds on take off and landing. As stated by Bmused, they normally require the blinds to be open. This is to enable as much light to come in to the cabin in case of a loss of power (also see thread regarding cabin lights) as well as allowing the passengers to see outside before opening an exit during an evacuation to make sure it’s safe to use that exit. Finally, it allows the crew and passengers to see outside whilr that aircraft is in the most critical stages of flight so that they can report any anomalies, fire for example.
Having 1 or 2 aisles has nothing to do with the pitch.
I remember flying in a 747 with a 31′ pitch : very unconfortable π
Exactly Hand. I really fail to see why people are so worried about a single aisle aircraft on a transatlantic flight. IMO it’s a really good idea as it allows airlines such as CO and AA to operate non stop service from regional airports that otherwise would not have transatlantic links. The 757 is a fantastic aircraft that is ideally suited for these routes.
The other thing to remember is that many routes started by the 757 do get upgraded to a widebodied aircraft once the route is established (the obvious exception being BHX-EWR which is double daily instead).
You’re right RIP. They dim the cabin lights so that your eyes are already adjusted to the dark conditions should you lose all power and need to evacuate the aircraft.
Thanks RIP. As I said above, it’s really bugging me and as you correctly observed, no one on here seems to know.
Thanks again
Re: Glasgow weather:
Sounds the same as in Wales. My father always says “You’ve heard of the greenhouse effect? Well we’re the downpipe!”
I’m not sure how I feel about this forum as I think the trip reports were a nice part of the commercial forum. I do however think that the Flight Sim forum is a very good idea as this will keep everyone happy.
