Right, I’m not going to get in to an argument about it. We’ll agree to disagree. I personally feel that Wales is no worse than the rest of the UK. My opinion is that the country in general is going to the dogs and having lived abroad for 9 months, I think I’ll try my best to get out of the UK for good as soon as possible.

As I side note, I found what Anne Robinson said quite funny. I think you should be able to laugh at yourself. Just remember one thing, Wales is the country where men are men and sheep are scared 😀

Matter closed. Back on to the topic please!

I found it quite amusing when I flew on Air France on the weekend that I only heard applause on landing on my flight from CDG-MAN. The only people who did applaud were the tourists who’d been to Disneyland Paris for 1/2 term.

Note: This is not an insult to tourists, It is simply an amusing observation.

I’m sorry to say Andrew but the school I went to in Swansea, Olchfa, is consisitently on of the best schools in the UK. They get some of the best GCSE & A-level results possible year in year out. They are not a private school, theyy’re just a normal comprehensive. You wouldn’t get detention there for siniging in Welsh.

Take my advice & quit while you’re ahead before you’re seen as the next Anne Robinson 😉

I did look at that option but the times were just too inconvenient & the price was high. I’d have left saturday morning & arrived in MAN saturday lunchtime & then had to leave about midday on the sunday to get back to MAD or BCN in time for the last EAS flights. It just wouldn’t have been worth going for that length of time

and it’ll be called WISE Air!! 😀 (that’s Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English)

Well done for putting the Welsh first and the English last. Makes a change 😀

Hand has basically answered all your questions. The problem with this area is that there are a few airports (Biarritz, San Sebastian/Hondarribia (which I can see from my bedroom window!) or Bilbao) but they are all pretty expensive to fly into/out of. The only airline to fly in to EAS (San Sebastian) is Iberia so I would have had to have gone via MAD or BCN. From BIO (Bilbao) I could have taken LH via FRA or SN via BRU but this would have cost more than AF for this particular weekend. BIO does have some low costs with EZY going to STN, LGW and BRS and also Hapag Lloyd Express to CGN, HAJ and STR and Volareweb to Milan and Rome. None of these were really an option as I needed to be in manchester as quick as possible & for the longest time possible.

I’m flying from BIO-BRS on EZY a week friday so I’ll try & get you another trip report then.

And by the way, the roof did not fall on me! 😀

Just as a side note, Iberia’s prices from EAS are coming down slowly and so I am doing some flights from there before I leave Irun at the end of August.

Love the report. One of best ive written. Got that Real Story bit in it that makes it that much more interesting!

That’s strange, I thought I’d written it. I must have had a memeory lapse and not really spent hours in work writing that this morning 😉 !

If I were Gdansk city officials, I’d have responded “Who wants to fly to an airport 60 miles from the city you intend to visit”

LMAO! It wouldn’t surprise me if they used some godforsaken airport in Eastern Germany and marketed it as Poland.

Thanks BY767. AF were fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough of them. Something I forgot to mention in my report was that all 4 aircraft were clean both inside and out!!! Miracle eh?

I know I was incredibly lucky to get in the cockpit during the flight. I never thought I’d be able to do this again. As I said, the captain was so nice that I’m sure if he hadn’t had other people in the jumpseats, he’d have invited me to stay in for the landing. I’ll just have to fly AF again now to see if I get that 😉 . I can’t even say it’s because I know someone. I simply asked at the beginning of the flight expecting to be told I could look in on the ground either in BIQ or CDG. It was a fantastic surprise.

He’s really going the right way about annoying people. Hasn’t he ever heard the phrase quit while you’re ahead?

But could this year’s Cropredy be the last? Seen RT on tour recently? – if not you missed a treat, he’s in truly awesome form.
As for myself, a favourite song, seemed appropriate as I was doing nothing but nights when I started using it.

It appears that Cropredy is ok. From what I can gather, Rob Braviner, the sound man, has bought it & it should continue for many years.

I haven’t caught RT on tour unfortunately but I did go to Manchester last weekend to see Fairport (see my trip report BIQ-CDG-MAN-CDG-BIQ for more details). As much as I like RT and love seeing him in Cropredy, we need good weather so in that respect I hope the “rain god” is not there 😉 !

Nice Pics. I don’t suppose anyone spotted or took a photo of the AF A318 that landed at 10:58 am on that day (05/06/2004)? Just wondering as I was on it. There is a pic of it on Airliners.net in MAN on that day but I’m not sure if it was the flight I was on or a different one. The flight number was AF1968 and the registration of the aircraft was F-GUGC
