Thank you very much…this is very informative!!
It appears that the 36th MTAP used (in 1945) the A-20G or A-20J with modifications to the nose.
The scheme appears to be overall olive drab with light gray undersides. Thank you again for this piece of history.
Thank you so very much!
These photos are great and will be of great help!!
Taken during the Battle of Irrawaddy, Burma 1948-49 nt
Do you know where this was taken? The chaps on the left appear to be digging a hole? 😀

It may have been an Oxbox
see the attached listing
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much and best wishes for the holiday season and new year.
Li-2 it is.
The Li-2 is painted GSB to look like a USN C-47. Thanks. I would have never guessed Li-2 in a hundred years.
Cyprus
And another highly flameble thread has emerged.
What we need now is someone like Hotdog trying to set it onfire:DSeriously beeing the spoilsport i am, what good could possible come out from a thread like this..
I asked a simple question regarding air activity over Cyprus. I was hoping from a response from a military aviation specialist who would provide an accurate answer, not just a sanitized newspaper report, or some propaganda from either side.
Turkish F-16’s fly over Cyprus with regularity, at high altitutudes. These particular event(s) which I mention above were quite different in that the F-16’s were at a low level and were definately seeking to evade the IDF F-15.
I am sure there is a reasonable explanation that does not involve inflamatory content.
Thanks David!
Future generations of PBY/aviation enthusiasts will be indebted to you for your excellent research. I just bought your book.
Thanks very much!
Burmese Oxfords/Consuls modified to carry rockets are mentioned in this book ‘Wessex Aviation Industry’ by Mike Phipp. It has a picture and text.
I do not have a copy, just noticed it whilst browsing.Richard
Thanks very much for your time and research. Much appreciated.
Just wondering–where did you find this photo?
Possibly.
Mark
It’s really excellent. Maybe a caption will shed light on the location, whether it’s a Consul or Ox.
Thanks again.
