There is an excellent bus service that runs an hourly service Lincoln-Skegness to a late hour..Stagecoach No.6…this could deliver you Lincoln-Spilsby or Lincoln-Horncastle….after that more research required..

This No.6 service is very well supported and runs with quite full loads…and can get to max capacity plus in Summer I’m told….

(East Kirkby may have Spilsby in its postal address..but it is of course in reality several miles South West..)

There are other connecting services…..but I can’t help feeling that I heard something about a change to some of these on the local news in the last few months.?? ..and they may require some registration..so wonder if that is local biased.??

Thank you for posting the photos 🙂

…and for helping keep this thread alive 😉

As a little lad I used to keep an eye out for the Lincs Aerial Spraying Renault 4 vans, white with a red stripe and,….a sure clue that the Pawnee wasn’t far away….and often coming to treat the back field here too 😉

Thank you again for posting on,

My first flight was in a Skegness Aerodrome Auster J/1N Alpha…I admit now that my mum and my brother went up for a flight first before I decided that I dare give it a go…then I got hooked 😉    My dad staunchly wouldn’t go, he said he did his time in Dak’ and Valetta out Egypt way…

    Hello SimonHart123

Many thanks for adding you memories to this long standing thread…that I started way back in 2003.  🙂

I used to visit the aerodrome as often as I could, spending some of my hard earned cash on flights to here and there…and had a good talking to one day by David to stop “messing”  about and do it properly..ie;  I was spending more funds on jollies here and there than if i buckled down in a PPL direction…which I did consider and bought the books. a few years later….but it was really for me at the time and escape from other things that were happening in life and I greatly enjoyed my flights, as passenger, to other local airfields in 150, 182 and the Austers 🙂   For the record my last flight, to date, was with, now sadly late, Peter Wilkes who I had met at Skegness in the latter days of the aerodrome…that flight was Stubton Park-Netherthorpe in banner tower G-BMUD and return Stubton in G-OTOW.

Thank you again for adding to thread,

                                                             Clive.

Only a few days ago I saw a photo of JP  G-BWSH and thought, I would like to see that…..hey presto, on Thursday last I was sat out at my works location, Gunby E. Lincs, enjoying my lunch, in the sunshine, and over it flew…..lovely 🙂

    Hello Nickxb787,

Very pleased to read that the thread has brought back many memories for you.   🙂

It really is amazing how it has regularly bounced back over the years, after being found on a search.

    Thank you for posting on.

Brilliant 🙂  Thank you for persevering with getting the photos uploaded.  They include some of the aircraft that I mentioned in my opening post of this thread, now amazingly, over 16 years ago 🙂

They show the aerodrome just as I remember it in the days when I was an occasional, earth bound, visitor and when I first took a flight in a pleasure flight Auster.  My mum and my brother took a flight first as I was “chicken” but once I had a flight I became hooked for a number of years, purely as passenger, I add.

I think on my first flight we arranged a variation of the usual coastal run so that we could overfly my grandparent’s and aunt’s houses at Mumby and Anderby rather than a run purely along the coast.

G-BCPK was once a concours prize winner but by the time I was more regularly visiting it was sadly looking rather tired and then had some time prop-less in the hangar……..

Another resident that came to mind today which was operated rather than owned? was GA-7 G-BOXR…I think?

I still really think that a book on Skegness needs collating and writing….. 🙂

Very many thanks for the photos,

                                                 Clive. 🙂

CJ 6 ? passing overhead Spilsby, E. Lincs, from the north, reasonably low level, 2:56pm.   a bit like the old days when MJ627  was about… 🙂 only this was a bit steadier…
