I haven’t posted on this thread for a while….but amongst the quite recent types about over the last few days..it seems to have been a busy flying week…..a Dominie flew by yesterday with the emphasis on flew by…rather than flew over….passing Gunby, E. Lincs at 2-39pm and away to the West.
Hopefully Dominie(jet) is historic enough.??:) 😉
Clive.
Spotted passing Gunby by my work colleagues yesterday … Czech Mi-17 helicopter….
I missed it cos I had a day off.….
…..but I was down at East Kirkby all day:)
Clive.:)
The Dakota lead a trail of fighters out to Spilsby…and orbited twice :):)..before heading away North across the town..and then a work colleague spotted them over Sausthorpe heading back West. Then spotted again over Horncastle..
The two orbits proved good…as it enabled my dad who does not move so swiftly these days time to power up his walking sticks and get out the house to catch the second orbit:);)
I did catch them above home home here at Spilsby with my snap shot camera….Cringe quality video on this link; http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d12/Spilsby/?action=view¤t=MVI_2504.flv 😮
The sound comes over not too bad though.??
I wonder if any photos were taken from the Dakota door.??
Meanwhile, on Saturday another work colleague was at a wedding reception at the Petwood and reports a Spitfire pair flypast taking place..which he much enjoyed…
Clive.
Thank you Pebo for adding your memories and photos to this thread…and thus bringing it to the fore again.:)
My time visiting Skegness was from much more recent years…so I can’t answer your question re Ken Harness.
…and thank you Richellis for adding your memories and the link to your 1987 certificate.
It is good to see the thread return again with some more Skegness Aerodrome history added.:)
Thank you,
Clive.
I should add that flying does continue at Skegness…these days at The Water Lesiure Park just to the South of the old Aerodrome.
Thank you for the confirmation of the identity of my sighting…and very interesting to learn of the journey being made…
Thank you,
Clive.
