Hello Monsun,
Photo of LH from 1992? attached..
I had a trip out to overfly Dover Docks from Skegness with return via Shipdam for fuel…in G-AZLH…
..A madcap idea of mine at the time to photo the Caroline ship Ross Revenge that had then just come into the docks ex Goodwin Sands…it was all a plan of mine to do a long distance light aircraft trip and the Dover bit just fuelled my dream at the time…It was winter time and the place was fogged in for days but suddenly one morning I got a call that it was on…and having thawed out the fire truck and swept frost from LH we were off to Dover….landing back into Skegness with a mist starting to form plenty late in the day..:o
It was a lovely clear trip…froze the camera batteries though..leading to only 2 photos….
Makes me cringe now thinking back at the event…:o
After Skegness(Ingoldmells) had closed AZLH returned to Skegness (Croftmarsh?) for a while with David Coulson and Guy? Lockyer? and then went on with David to Cranfield….but has now moved on again I believe.?
I should add that flying does continue at Skegness…these days at The Water Lesiure Park just to the South of the old Aerodrome.
All the best,
Clive.
Hello Rojread and Jim_jobe,
Thank you for adding your memories to this long running thread….
…..returning it up the pages once more ;)….
I did patch it up the other day as a few photos had gone awol from the first page.
Sadly, my photo of the Aerodrome shows the West side of the hangar and not the Butlins side.!!..but I do remember seeing the hangar signage..
Thank you,
All the best,
Clive.
Per chance it could be from Egton.??

Hello Martin,

A heard….rather than spotted….
Today at 12 noon-ish…heard in the very distance from my works at Gunby…something V piston out Coningsby way.??
Clive.
My Mum has just remembered to tell me that at lunchtime she spotted a Spitfire up here in Lincolnshire….it was passing Spilsby, E. Lincs 12-15pm-ish she reports…
Am I to suspect that MJ627 was about..??
I was at work a few miles East and saw nothing.! but at some stage today commented to my work colleague that it would be a good day for a Spitfire to be about..did I subconsciously hear it..or was I dreaming…and how good is my Mums spotting.;)
Clive.
I reckon it looked..and sounded..like a BBMF Chipmunk passing to the North of Gunby, E.Lincs heading NE at 1-03pm today…

The one I refer to was conventional and in ex RAF red/white.
Clive.
Looked like a Chippie over Horncastle, not a BBMF one, it was red and White.
I seem to think one such lives at Wickenby.?..
…and it was perhaps that that I also spotted a week last Sunday over Gunby, E. Lincs heading East and later in the day returning West…both times in company with another light single type.
Clive.
Spotted by my Mum…an invasion striped Spitfire passing Spilsby, E. Lincs this morning 11-35am heading East….suspect MJ627.??
Clive.
I had a day off today from my usual gardening…to go and do a bit of grass mowing around the car park at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway at Ludborough N.Lincs….just as we were about to leave I spotted the Lancaster over Louth way heading for the coast 11-19am…it looked to coast out and then turned left hand to coast back in and passed immediately South of Ludborough Stn 11-22am heading back over the Wolds…
A lovely sight…and spotted by chance of being at the right place at the right time.:):)
Clive.
BBMF Griffon Spitfire spotted at 7-24pm…loitering about for a few minutes as far East as Spilsby….prior to display at EK..
