Sorry they are not taken at Skeggie but having at last found out how easy it is to post photos on the forum (thanks avion ancien) here are a couple of G-AHCK, which you mentioned in your original post.

I also had a number of flights in ‘CK in the days when it was owned by first Laurie Mansfield and then Pete Woodman. Photos taken at Sywell (silver) and Shoreham.

    Wicked Willip :diablo:

    Hello,
Thank you posting on with the photos…..

AHCK was in the red colour scheme during its time at Skeggy..although I seem to think by then it looked a bit more jaded than in your photo.

I wonder where it is these days..??

I seem to think it may have gone at first to CFI DBCs home at Croft and then Wrecks and Relics suggests it migrated to just up the road here with Pat’ Miller at Mavis Enderby and then in 2001 moved to Thwing in East Yorkshire.??..but it still lurks on G-INFO with an old Skegness Air Taxi Service Ltd ref.

Thank you again for the photos,
    Clive.

    Hello HP81,
Thank you for the update on this one…at the time that I posted my reply, back in 2003, I was not aware of the Burgh Road strip…but later found out about it..local sweet company etc.
A friend of mine made up some warning signs a while back with ref the nearby footpath.

I think the strip was quite busy in the last week with a couple of the local helicopters out and about.?

Following the recent “damp” weather the Water Leisure Park Airfield was out of bounds for a while, waterlogged..but recently I think the 150 from there has been about.??

    All the best,
    Clive.

I can confirm that the crew of XM600, Spilsby crash, all escaped ok…

I watched events unfolding from the school sports field…a Vulcan coming in from the coast with a large light visible….no light, but a fierce fire with as it got closer a trail of black smoke quite visible….somehow I felt it would keep going…but then we saw a parachute, then another, and then a third…even then I still felt it would fly on by..but it suddenly pointed 45 degrees downwards…another parachute was seen….then the Vulcan went out sight..and a huge fireball errupted..but I don’t recall any bang…a huge smoke ring slowly drifted off to the North.

I was very concerned at seeing no fifth ‘chute and it was only on the early evening news that I learnt that the pilot had in fact escaped ok..landing in Northorpe road Halton Holegate outside the home of a former squadron colleague.!!

How I discovered soon after that it was XM600 is another story;)

I learnt recently of a story that suggested one of the crew was briefly hung up on the exit door but was able to get free and away.

I am quite lucky living only 3or4 miles North of Gamston VOR/DME so tend to get 1 or 2 interesting A/C fly over now & then. In the last few weeks I have had the Lanc, a P51 & although not confirmed, a P40???. Can anyone please confirm this last one or am I going bonkers in my old age!!!
