Well someone has to start!
Found this in a box. Anyone an idea as to where and when.
Leave well alone I think. After all if you notice a photo thread you’re not obliged to view or contribute. Furthermore if there is insufficient support the threads will die anyway. If they don’t there’s obviously a demand.
Reading between the photos there’s also a lot of interesting information coming through.
Here goes!
RF-4Cs of the 16th tactical Reconnaissance Squadron at tan Son Nhut in October 1965
Would you like to see one;)
Yes, What about them?
what about American?????
Three Vulcans at Ohokea New Zealand in late 1959. The PACAF USAF ‘Square Deal’ deployment took place at the same time, hence the presence of the F-100D.
A trio of photos featuring ‘Patricia Lynn’ RB-57E in SE Asia. The aircraft was one of the two initial Canberras to arrive in the theatre in 1963. The pilot in the second photo is Max Minor and the back seater is Phil Walker who had just completed his 100th mission. Phil was unfortunate enough to have been the back seater in #4264 when it was shot down in October, 1968. He was picked up by a Huey and safely returned to Tan Son Nhut.
I’ve registered on the site but as yet have not received a password. I should have had an e mail by now…shouldn’t I?

Sorry about the poor reproduction. It wasn’t too good to start with!
And another thing! Spangdahlem 1956
494th TFS F-100Ds at Chaumont 1958. Those were the days!
Orfordness
No photos, but from this query some may surface!
As a boy of some 7 to 9 years in the early 1950s I lived in Orford in Suffolk. My father worked on Orfordness for the RAE. I went over a few times with him when he went shooting. One of my enduring memories of those trips is seeing the aircraft wrecks lying in a disorganised pile.
Having said that I have no idea what was on it but I do recall one wreck in a yellow based camo with german crosses (I think)
It’s a long shot I know, but does anyone know what was kept on this dump on Orfordness at this time? After all this time it would be good to know.
France boasts a number of high quality aviation magazines and, as any good bookshop in the country demonstrates, a wealth of good books on the French aviation industry and military history. Of course these are written in French.
Is this unreasonable?
A number of French magazines accept and publish articles by non French speaking historians; which they translate into French.
Perhaps we should encourage our editors to solicit more articles from French and other European authors which they could translate into English and publish.
It’s a thought!
