Quite a bit of Harvard news flying around out of NAM at the moment:
“There’s currently lots of chatter on Twitter about the decision from earlier this week that the in-depth Harvard restoration project will eventually see the aircraft returned to the original RCAF markings it wore as FE930.
This will be in honour of the Canadian personnel who trained with 1661HCU at wartime RAF Winthorpe.
The museum is now trying to firm up the details of those wartime markings in Canada.”
Based on observed experiences since reopening I cannot see Newark going down a pre-booking route for admission to any of its events/activities – unless legislation is introduced to make this compulsory.
That’s said some visitors seem confused by the fact that you don’t have to book – sometimes you cannot win!!
Online tickets might help solve one of the issues. That said NAM hasn’t gone down that route for its main admissions since it reopened and is ticking over quite steadily – sadly a standalone system just for an Aeroboot would not provide a worthwhile return on any investment.
Likewise it would no doubt create other issues for both buyers and sellers; some of whom aren’t even on the Internet. Some business/bookings are still made via landline telephones, letter, cheques and even the odd postal order!
