I suspect that this section of the news release offers an explanation:
“In the documents notifying interested parties of the proposed disposal the IWM’s Disposals Manager made the following comments about the DA4 airframe.
“As a prototype, this airframe is an experimental model and is not representative of a production or operational aircraft. DA4 was one of the seven original industry development aircraft before becoming a RAF ground instructional airframe.” “
Nice to see the acquisition of DA.4 being covered in the news section of Key Aero!

That should have been – Eurofighter Typhoon DA4 – ZH590
Here’s a weblink to some photos from the Newark Air Museum Autumn 1940s Weekend; the event is open again first thing on Sunday morning; don’t forget to put your clocks back; approach the site from the A17 direction & there’s a better weather forecast for tomorrow!
R-R Merlin and Gnome Omega rotary engines have joined the NAM collection today!
… thanks for that clarification, and there was me thinking it was down to Brexit!
Everyone at NAM is now starting to get ready for their Autumn 1940s Weekend event, that takes place on Sat 26 & Sun 27 October 2019, more details in the weblink below:
I know you were, unfortunately they couldn’t afford Yorkshire tea in the NAM café!
Sadly the forum talk was none too positive and if people do as they said, this place will be poorer for their departure!
We aim to please, sorry that I didn’t get more of a chance to chat.
The visitor/buyer flows seemed to be more spread out across the morning; and most comments seemed positive; and that’s despite the disappointment at the museum not being able to announce the date for the spring sale – watch this space!
Free brews, stopped a while back, mainly due to the fact that now the café is right next door to Hangar 2 and as such is much easier for sellers to pop across to make their purchases.
An interesting aside were a few of the negative comments circulating amongst the general chit-chat about the changes that have been made about these parts. I would have to concur with comments elsewhere on here that our generous hosts need to move ASAP to minimise the possibility of everyone’s departure from posting on here!
This time round there’s been a rather limited set of listings submitted in relation to the Indoor sale at Newark Air Museum tomorrow – for what it’s worth here’s the link!
NAM’s website has just been updated with a Quick Guide to the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble on Saturday 12th October!

Not long now until there’s some face to face aviation trading!
Nice to see a write up about Newark’s next Indoor Aeroboot/Aerojumble featured on the FlyPast website!
A new update has been added to the participants list for the NAM Autumn 40s Weekend event listing on the museum website; this features new additions to the event on Sat 26 & Sun 27 October.
I just wanted to remind sellers at the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble at Newark on 12th October that they can still submit details of what they are selling for inclusion on a Sellers Listing page on the NAM website.
After trying for a long time to log-in in with the old ‘handle’ decided it would be quicker to go with a new one – so here we go in a ‘brave new world’ – please don’t forget its only eight more sleeps to the ‘sold-out’ NAM Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble on Saturday 12th October 2019.
Exciting times ahead!
