this one? it’s believed a medium size fighter with two internal weapon cabins. where are the spots?

Almost no news of the HQ-9 either, does that mean it’s a failed design too?

the HQ-9 is in service now. it is feature of chinese armed forces that very few news for active equipments.

Nope, not the four spots I’m thinking of. The four spots I see in that model are certainly going to be part of a “risky battle”, otherwise the jet will suddenly become a brick and do an impersonation of a rock.

which model you are refering to? the fighter front view in that panel shows that there are three internal weapon cabins under airfram for six AAMs. how could it possible a medium-large size fighter only have four spots in total?

the 1.44 (albeit another demonstrator) may have been quite stealthy if in fact Mikoyan was hanging their hat on the Keldysh system to achieve low RCS rather than airframe design.

there is almost no news about this plasm stealth stuff nowadays, it’s more likely a failed design.

Look at the model you posted. From a head on aspect, find me the four spots where travelling waves will be zapped right back to the radar.

the four spots are just additional to the internal weapon bays under airframe, they will not be used in risky battles.

the PAK-FA of course will be quite a stealthy platform, but S-37 and Mig-1.44 are not. any ray is travelling wave, its concept got anything to do with RCS decrease?

actually besides this twin-engined j-10, both chengdu(611) and shenyang(601) have their own real 4th gen fighter designes. here is a shenyang’s normal layout design which shares some similarity with f-22. jane’s already reported it a while ago.

Whether or not the Chinese “design” pictured here is fifth generation is yet to be seen.

it’s considered 3.5th gen by 611. only fighters that have very low RCS and be able to supercruise above 1.5 M with full arms are real 4th gen according to them. so both S-37 and Mig-1.44 are not 4th gen, the only 4th gen fighter in the world right now is F-22.

I mean the J-10 just not got into service in the past year didn’t it?

nope. at least this photo’s original data shows that there are j-10s got into service in 2004.

Unforetunetely, Yang Wei did not say that . If you search april’s posts on several major chinese forums, e.g. war sky, cjdby, yous should see how this was a bad joke.

J10’s variant is quite likely to come out in the next 5 years, but Yang Wei never said that publicly.

how could you be such certain? about this, there is not a final conclusion in chinese forums yet.

of course he never mentioned about j-10’s modification, he just said “an important new prototype”.

Chengdu’s twin engined development of the J-10 and Chengdu’s 5th generation fighter are probably 2 different projects.

Chengdu may be developing a twin engined version of the J-10 to compete for PLAN’s naval fighter requirement for aircraft carriers.

yes, this canard layout design is more or less a transitional stuff. carrier fighter is not the main purpose, air force has been sponsored the most on subsystems pre-research.

Big Brush, please give me a break.

When and where did Yang Wei said this? Looks like you don’t know this is an internet hoax.

Be carefuly about those “insiders”, if all of their words were true, china’s national security department may have used up their bullets long time ago.

he said these on chinese aviation industry 55 years report. anyways time will tell. just wait a few years to see whether there are pics come from 132.

imho all the pics around showing the saar 5 are either not showing the shipt after the hit or there was no direct hit of a c-802. even if the pics are showing the wrong side of the ship there must be some significant damage on this side also. maybe the warhead did not explode but the missile has a weight of more than 700kg and a max range of more than 100km. the kinetic energy and the fuel should cause a lot of damage and fire.

there is no any pic about the damaged ship by far. but report says the ship has been burning for several hours.

so it was more likely a dud c-802.

here is c-801 without warhead tested by thai navy. the effect is quite similar with what the reports said this time.
