there is no c-102 such missile. the iranian is producing c-802 and c-701 under licence. i thought it could be a c-701, but IDF says it’s a c-802.

The F124’s radar is said to be superior to the SPY-1F which is not the much more capable D version used by destroyers, it has been claimed the Sampson is superior to the D version (although this is difficult to prove as specs for both are scarce) so yes the Sampson is far superior to the F124’s radar. Ultimately the T45 could carry 72 aster-30s but the F124 could carry just 32 SM-2’s, these ships are intended for area air defence. a role for which the ESSM is less than suited.
Do you have a source stating that the Monarch or the GMLRS will be installed on the F124 rather than concept poroving operations on incomplete ships?
The T-45 will be able to operate UAV,s in the same way as the F124.

superior what? the only advantage APAR got there is it’s a x-band radar, which not ony could offer trajectory correction orders, but also could guide semi-actively guided SM-2. while s-band SPY-1 doen’t have enough accuracy to do this. thus every aegis ship gotta use SPY-62 to offer terminal guidance. but SPY-1 is way way more powerful a radar than german’s tiny APAR. SPY-1 could be used to track ballistic missiles which are 1000km away. what is APAR’s maximal range, 150km or something like this? talking about the future upgrade for TMD, there is no comparison at all.

aster is actively guided missile, it could deal with over-horizon targets when being supported by AWACS and datalinks. could semi-actively guided SM-2 do this? sampson is also output way more powerful than tiny x-band APAR. there is no compare at all.

i made a mistake. you are right the basic version c-802 is actually yj-81a, which has been sold to thailand and iran.

c-802 is sub launched version and never been exported. iran builds c-701 and c801a under licence. it was more likely a c-701 judged by the damage extent.

it’s not c-803. c-803 has never been exported. the missile was c-701, which being built by iran under licence. generally tv guided missile is difficult to fool. and they are quite exact.

The YingJi-7 (YJ-7, also known as C-701 in its export name) is a lightweight anti-ship missile developed by China Haiying Electro-Mechanical Technology Academy (CHETA) in the 1990s. The missile was specifically designed to engage small sea targets such as fast attack craft and patrol boat. The missile could be launched from land-, air- and sea-platforms, and can be fitted with one of the three seeker options: TV, Infrared image, and millimetre radar. The missile did not enter service with the PLA Navy.

    PROGRAMME

CHETA revealed its C-701 lightweight anti-ship missile during the 1998 Zhuhai Air Show. The missile, reportedly designated YJ-7 by the PLA, appears to be a scaled-down version of the YJ-8 (C-801) anti-ship missile with lighter launch weight and shorter-range. CHETA claimed that the missile was particularly suitable to be carried by helicopters or small missile boats to engage low-speed, small-size sea targets such as fast attack craft and small boats. The missile was said to be also capable of engaging land targets.

The features of the C-701 missile make it particularly suitable for low-intensity operations such as anti-terrorism, anti-pirate, smuggling control, etc. The missile could be launched from sea-, air-, or land-platforms, and has three different types of seekers: TV, infrared image, and millimetre radar. The YJ-7/C-701 missile is not known to have been deployed by the PLA. Iran has reportedly received the C-701 technology and is building a licensed copy.

    DESIGNS

The YJ-7/C-701 missile has a cylindrical body and either a rounded glass nose for electro-optical imaging, or a solid nose for millimetre radar homing. The missile has four flying wings on the middle of the fuselage, and four tail control surfaces. The missile is only 2.5m in length, less than half that of the YJ-8 (C-801). The land- and ship-launched variant of the missile is stored in a sealed box-shape launcher with its wings folded. The missile has its seeker at head, followed by a 29kg time-delayed semi-armour-piercing anti-personnel blast warhead, with a solid rocket motor at rear.

    SPECIFICATIONS

    Length: 2.507m
    Diameter: 0.18m
Wingspan: 0.587m (unfolded); or 0.450m (folded)
    Weight: 100kg
    Warhead: 29kg time-delayed semi-armour-piercing high-explosive
    Propulsion: Solid rocket engine
    Max Speed: 0.8 Mach
    Min Range: 0.5km
    Max Range: 15~~20km
    Flight Altitude: 15~~20m
    Guidance Mode: TV-homing
    Single-shot hit probability: 95%

the c-80x series with their 165 kg warhead would simply sink the ship. here is clip about thai navy test their c-801, without warhead.

JDAM doesn’t have terminal guidance. And GPS is going to be more accurate than an IR image anyway (which is why GPS pretty much IS the terminal guidance)

JDAM has a CEP of 13m when using GPS/INS. while JDAM-PIP, which has an extra IR imaging seeker could reduce its CEP to 3m. GPS is hardly considered terminal guidance. without real terminal guidance like GMTI and Raindrop systems, JDAM even can’t hit moving targets.

with supersonic trainer, pilots could well experience the process of switch between subsonic and supersonic flight and become skillful on it before even fly a fighter. this is what a subsonic trainer can’t do. and L-15 got this advantage even if it has a lower price. around $ 15million.

GPS coordinate is just a rough parameter. you still need terminal guidance to make sure ammos hit targets finally. vast informations, like target IR image.

j-10 is superior than f-16 blk30 in some areas. like buses distributing. j-10’s point to point distributing is simple, this just let it have a relatively high transmission speed. thus j-10 has more choices than blk30 on usage of smart ammos, which demand vast informations input before launch. due to this j-10 also could get higher quality of FLIR live transmission or spend less time to establish 3D map in MFDs. the other advantages like aerodynamics gap or TVC engine, etc.

    L-15, their cousin

wise decision. L-15 is the only one among the three could be fit on afterburner.
