Not even in the same league now, but here are a couple of the Vampire pod, circa summer of 1981. Apparently was coded ’45’.

    2 seater

I can vouch for that too: have photos somewhere.

It was a mystery for some time but I think a later issue of W&R cleared it up. A WZ-serial if memory serves (which it usually doesn’t!)

The Vampire pod or the mysterious Mosquito bits?

I recall circa 1980 going to see the Mosquito at Halton and there, burnt and very, very derelict among the nettles, was a Vampire pod.

And by the way – I don’t remember there being a fire dump at Halton.

TVAL aeroplanes are amazing. Who knows they might start building twin engined WW1 Aircraft – can you imagine a Gotha at Old Warden 🙂

    …or an 0/400…

Great news: there’s something much more interesting about these replica WW1 types when compared to the WW2 replicas. Given a new-build Spitfire to look over, I’m done in five minutes, but looking at one of the TVAL BE.2e’s at Goodwood took me many visits and I still wasn’t done. They’re works of art.

The way TVAL manufacture just about everything (including the engines in most cases) is exemplary.

    Can’t wait to see them!

Yes – seen Porco Rosso, and yes it’s surreal, but beautiful with it. Never as good as the original pre-Disney Laputa however.

Can we change the title of the thread please? I love the talk about anything Ghibli, but calling Miyazaki’s films ‘cartoons’ is like calling Michelin-starred food ‘grub’!

Yes the NELSAM F-86D is the only Dog in the UK: another museum had the chance to get one but bungled it. Ah well.

I didn’t realise that ‘171 had her 512th FIS colours on the port side: good to see her in two of her original paint schemes!

Ditto. How I’d LOVE to see this one reach fruition: among the seemingly endless stream of Spitfire clones (which never cease to find exciteable individuals to get excited about them), here is something truly worthwhile that I’d get excited about!

I do hope we can get some good news from this gentle prod.

Deeply annoying, since the team had already installed the MB seat to overcome similar issues with the NAA seat that’s usually fitted in CAC Sabres.

One option would be to go for a (third type) of seat that is widely supported. However I can see how that might be expensive, and ultimately ending in the same situation a few years hence.
