The obvous answer is the group memorializes the RAF, not the Luftwaffe.
Remember. in 1940 (and 39, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45) they were the “bad” guys.
Imagine the outcry from the public (and some veterans) if tax money went to keep a BF-109 (or other Luftwaffe type) flying. Only aviation fans would expect, or want, to see the other side represented.
Ask yourself a question…if you had lost YOUR family in the Blitz, or a brother or son in the BoB itself, would you be happy about the RAF using tax money to memorialize the Germans?
You and I as plane buffs would see the BF-109 as an honest representation of what happened in the skies over Britain. But the general public would see things a bit more emotionally.
Hello
Black 6 it’s not RAF plane?? (from tax money?? – and other IWM stuff ??)
I don’t know what think veterans in UK, but for example in Poland (I’m a reenactor – polish 1939 infranty) most of veterans understand why some my friends wearing “feldgrau” uniforms. They can say to grandchilds: ” that looks our enemy…”
