Yep, been following the Black widow progress for a while, also the B-29 “DOC”, though that still seems a fair way off flying again, not surprising bearing in mind the complexity of a B-29.
Any progress on the FW 200 Condor that fell apart as they pulled it out of the sea ?? I used to get Classik Flugzeug when I lived in Germany & that showed various chunks had been farmed out to different organisations for rebuild to non flight status. The various bit seemed to be progressing but that was 6 years ago.
What happened to the FW 189 ?? Has it been sold yet ??
If you read the book about Neville Duke, “Test Pilot” it would appear that it was standard practice to strafe downed aircraft in the desert, maybe the pilot got it down, but wasn’t quick enough getting out. Either that or it has been cannabilised after bellying in on the airfield & someone is larking about in the cockpit. Having said all that it does look as if his arm is stuck on to him like my old Tamiya 1/35 th soldiers.
Having looked at some of my father’s old photo’s of aircraft circa 1952-54 I have found some to have a slightly surreal in/out of focus effect like that seen in this picture. I would’nt entirely dismiss it as a fake.
Generally don’t mind what the person next to me is wearing as long as they are clean & don’t smell too offensive.
It used to amuse me when I regularly traveled on an aircraft for work that when I went out at the beginning of the week in a shirt & tie the attitude of the cabin crew was perceptibly different to when I came back dressed casually (chinos & short sleeved shirt smartish casual) on a Friday.
Maybe they just worked Mon-Fri & were fed up by Fri ….;)
Surely the lack of variety of aircraft is merely a reflection of the state of the various air forces/arms. Less variety of basic types in service equates to less variety at a forces based airshow.
I haven’t been to RIAT for over ten years, but used to go a lot before, Greenham, Boscombe & Fairford and lack of variety was never an issue, however in those days the RAF had Jags, Lightnings, Phantoms, Canberras, Victors, Shackletons, Vulcans, Hercules, Tornados, Hawks, Harriers, Buccaneers, VC-10, Tristar, Nimrod + others. What does it have now ? Tornado, Harrier, Typhoon, Hawk, Hercules, VC-10, Tristar, Nimrod, i,e. less variety & that’s just us.
Oh, & we don’t have Snoopy any more either !
It can happen,

Could be worse & yes I know it’s not a 737 in the bottom pictures.
Some from my fathers collection, Malaya 1953.
Composite shot of Tangmere’s “WB818” taken about 5 years ago.
Kartman,
Here are some other pics, an elevator I spent all morning cleaning up, my flatmate Ben getting some fittings off a scrap block and a super charger.
Chris
Kartman,
Those photo’s date fom 1987/88 when Paul had it. I saw a completed 145 lurking in the back of a photo from an aircraft auction sometime ago. It had the logo Paul wanted to paint on it so I assume this was the one.
Chris
Yes Kartman, that will be the one. Here it is under the carport in 1987/88. That’s the kitchen window under the nose. It just fitted in the garden with the wings off as the photo of the left engine mount shows.
Oh no, good to hear everyone is ok. One of my friends at work had a go in it last weekend as it had recently been bought by one of our colleagues. No doubt I’ll hear more tomorrow.
Kartman, was your fathers’ aircraft sold to someone in the South West of London in the mid Eigthies ? Just wondered as I did some work on one (A 145 not 45) in the area. Can’t give anymore details as I was sworn to secrecy.
I seem to remember that someone was building a TA 152 replica (non flying) a while back. a small picture appeared in flypast. It must have been over 10 years ago though.
Best attach the photos.
