There is mention of Boston parts on the Hunt Brothers, Shoreham, website, though it hasn’t been updated for about 9 months. Interesting “Kate” project up for grabs on there.

I don’t think I’d get a business plan for the Hurricanes on there passed the missus though, the bank manager would be fine about I’m sure.
£350,000…I have an image of a Vulcan & Sea Vixen flying past in formation both wearing Red Bull colours. Funnily enough, I reckon it would look quite good….
Go on then, who did finance it ?
Due the fact that the majority of us are scattered around the British isles, not to mention the rest of the globe, would not a regional forum “get together” be a more practical solution. A lot of us can’t spare a day to travel from the distant corners of the country which is probably why it usually all falls apart. Not an ideal solution, but there you go.
John,
My father only spoke of being stationed at Changi & KL so I assume it is from there. As for the a/c involved I assumed Hastings but this created a lot of discussion on the forum a while back.
Try googling Archerfield Quarry. This was a “hole” in Aus that got filled up with a/c trash and was partly drained in 1992. Things were just getting interesting when the powers that be stopped it. Some people in power just don’t want you to get your hands on some of the stuff.
The sad thing is sometimes there isn’t time to get things properly inplace before they get destroyed.
Wasn’t there an attempt at this with a JU52 in Kent 20 odd years ago ?
Also, what happened to the Dakota club that used to advertise in the magazines along these lines in 1999? I had a look at their c47 at the Redhill aerojumble that year.
The Gemini spacecraft was indeed originally designed to land on retractable wheels. The Rogallo wing design for these spacecraft is credited with giving birth to hang gliders, so more than adequate credentials for being on here.
There is/was a large bomb on display amongst other wizz bang things outside a large munitions depot in Gosport. I’m not sure of it’s identity as I’m usually trying to avoid the other traffic whilst driving past. I shall endeavour to find out more.

It’s a crying shame that they are left to rot, esp as there are no restored/preserved examples of some of these types anywhere. There is a whole plethora of reasons why they are left there, lack of money to remove them, local government not wanting the removal of historic sites (a bit short sighted as they will disappear of their own accord at the mercy of the elements or get cut up for scrap) or locals demanding unrealistic sums of money for them due to their rarity.
“Tow it” was a figure of speach, I imagine from previous discussions that a considerable amount of dismantling of the a/c and roadside furniture would be required to get it from it’s current resting place to the oggin. I was just exploring all avenues of possible fates other than a good trampling over by a JCB. I imagine that a considerable amount of detoxification of the airframe, i.e. removal of all noxious fluids & other enviromentally unfriendly materials would be required before bestowing such a fate on it.
XL391, Tow it out to sea & sink it as a diving attraction. It could generate income for the local diving industry & let divers play at “Thunderball”.
As for Concorde, the world would be a sadder place with out. Don’t forget the politics involved in shooting it down commercially at the beginning with noise restrictions etc.
Some more pics of the Connie & others from Feb last year can be found here.

Nice pics. Have you tried stitching the 2nd & 3rd Canberra pics together ?
