The business end
So, how do I fit multiple photo’s on one page ?
One of two complete hunters on site.
Slightly battered Bloodhound in the background.
Unfortunately the place didn’t appear open. See Flypast Jan 2003 for a write up on the place.
& another
try again !
I think it should be made law that all estate agents list any airfields within say ten miles of a property when selling it. Then when we get some miserable b****** complaining about their peace being disturbed we can point out that the airfield has been there considerably longer than them. They were made aware of it and should have bought some where else if they weren’t prepared to accept the aircraft.
So there ……aarrgghhh…I’m annoyed now.
I suppose this could result in the natural selection of aviation biased people within the immediate area . Cool
A couple of years back they unearthed a stash of WWII aero engines whilst doing building work a Frankfurt Main airport. It was reported in Flypast if I remember correctly. Whilst not complete, ready to go 109s, it proves there is still stuff out there.
There is a website, which I can’t find at present, by some guy in the states who followed up rumours about buried aircraft & recovered substantial sections from a P38 & P40. They were pretty mashed up though. I’ll post it if I find it.
Lovely pics Futurshox, got any more ? The reflection on that polished curved skin is great.
Here is a black & white of the Breitling Fighters P40 at the Goodwood Revival last Sept.
If you like B & W, I do motorsport photos in a similar genre. Some are at http://www.pistonenvy.com in the photography section.
Mountain biking, once to four times a week. The flatness of Holland has put me off the place. No downhilling to get rid of all that pent up aggression. If you need some really lumpy stuff for biking get yourself down to the Alps on the train. It’s really cheap to rent an appartment in the Austrian Alpes in the summer an the cycling is spectacular. Their hospital casualty departments are first rate too. I only had to wait a few minutes to be seen.
Used to play Street Hockey with my flatmates/colleagues when I first came to Germany. Now that could get a bit “competitive” at times.

Sadly a few years back they caught some kids doing it. Their excuse….
“We wanted to see the Canadairs (CL-215s)”.
I remember seeing the 215s myself when we went there on holiday tooooo long ago. We also got to see the odd Alize coming out of the airfield. A Noratlas dropping parachutists into the ogin was a common sight as well. That’s showing my age. Oh, yes, they had a Flamant on the gate as well.
