What a shocking waste. Aside from the historical perspective I am sure that a much greater return would have been given to the taxpayers by sellling it than ‘demilitarising’ it in such a way.

    G’day
    Thanks for the responses.
Oldgit, yes it is broadly similar in shape but has quite a few different features.
    Smirky, thanks for the interest.
QldSpitty, I may need you to do the CAD for the whole panel yet!
AM, I’d love to see a pic too. I’ve got the majority of parts needed to complete a whole panel, mostly from Aussie Lincolns but I could be swayed to change direction.
    Regards Paul

Well done, that seems very generous, all the best for finding it an appropriate home.

Thanks Pete, the o/d of the parallel part is 27mm and it is approx 62mm long. Google tells me that that is 1 1/16 in.

I’ve managed to reunite the axle with some of its related parts.

Many rare aircraft have found their way from Walters collection into preservation at other locations, if he hadn’t of saved them when he did they would definitely be coke cans now.

I agree it’s not a perfect match, maybe Lincoln is a bit different. Anyone with another idea?

It turns out to be a tailwheel axle, I assume the bits on the ends are for picketing the aircraft.

Alan is on the money. The NMS stamp is probably from a local Aussie contractor. Peter knows a lot about the aircraft family it’s from.

Which type are you looking for, Mk IX, ABS Mk. II, SABS Mk. II, Mk XIV or Mk XIVA? Or T1/T1A?

Oops, I missed out the LLBS Mk. III! 🙂

A friend of mine picked up a very nice LLBS in a box of other junk only a couple of months ago.
