Well done Sycamore, I just got this from the Smithsonian website
“The designation originated with an Air Force rescue pilot based in Thailand whose call sign was Sandy, the name of his dog. Over time, Sandy became a generic term for all A-1 search-and-rescue flights.”
Full article here;

I think ‘Sandy’ is now synonomous with the type of mission being flown as opposed to the aircraft flying it. A-10 pilots now fly Sandy missions.
Here are some more photos, thanks Mike for letting me use them, I was too busy talking to people and only took 3 photos all day! I had a really good day and hope to do it again, great to meet a lot of people in person rather than just behind a computer screen.

Cockpits hooked up and ready.

2 days to go. I am looking forward to catching up with the local forumites, give Dave or I a call / PM if you decide to come at the last minute and need directions.

Join the Canberra forum.

You will find plenty of inspiration there including heaps of photos, discussion by people who worked on or flew Canberras and plenty of model pics too.
Look under ‘Genera Board’ and then ‘Crazy modellers Canberra corner’

Alvampman, thanks for the pic.
waghorn41, I wouldn’t mind seeing your photos too please, the cockpit of WJ676 is currently sitting on my front lawn.
Cheers Paul
Canberra WJ676
G’day
Does anybody have any photos of Canberra WJ676 at the Colerne museum? I would appreciate it if anyone does.
Thanks Paul
Piece of “original” Me-109 nose art (but is it ?)…

Hmmmmm
Vietnam War Period Bomber Aircraft AVRO ANSON (B-52) Navigators Chair
I am with Anon on this one. The object is upside down and is the top of a tripod where the three legs attach too, the whole wooden structure looks homemade to me so could be for anything. The military used tripods for all sorts of stuff including dumpy levels, theodolites, signalling lamps and heliographs to name a few.
Yes a waste indeed.
I notice on the 28DL website it actually notes that thread has been linked to this forum.

Sukhoi Su 22 cockpit trainer
This looks nice and very cheap (at the moment) unfortunately its size prohibits me from bidding on it but maybe someone closer could get a bargain.

Can any of you more knowledgeable people tell me if there is much external difference (incl size) between magiczigs Gee Receiver Type 3645 and the Type 3582A which was fitted to Canberra B2s?
Thanks Paul
VH-DYR
Hi,
Here are some photos of the Beech 19 VH-DYR that will be making the 900 km journey to the cockpit fest, it has suffered the indignity of 2 belly landings in its past but has now found new life with a superb restoration.
Hopefully we can entice a few more cockpits out of the wood work to make the day a bigger success.
Paul

Awesome, you guys are really going to town with this, it makes our own little gathering here in Oz look very provincial. All the best for your event.
